Journal entry #37.
The kid's learning quickly, though he seems to hold some kind of disdain for most of the weapons I've shown him so far. He has, however, taken to the physical training like a fish to water, keeping up with students older than himself...though he seems to have a minor problem with insulting the people he's training with and not being able to handle the insults given in return. He already holds a powerful desire to be strong, but I'm a bit worried...Why does he want strength so badly? When I asked, the only thing he'd say is that real men had to be strong...
Journal entry #156,
I took Ranma to see the commander of the magic unit today. It turns out that he has even less magic power than I do. Which amazes me, because mine is so low that it's almost non-existent. He doesn't seem to care about that though, said that magic was a crutch for weaklings to fight the strong. He's gonna be in for a rude awakening one of these days...
Journal entry #249
I'm writing from the village Tanbel this time. Every couple of years we who survived the battle at doom island gather here. Sadly, this means that four grown men end up drunk and sobbing over the loss of two of their good friends. Then comes the worst part, the hangover, combined with Tia lecturing us and Ranma laughing at my pain...I got a good laugh right back at him the next day though, when Ranma picked a fight with one of the Shaia kids. The blond kid with a funny name...Naruto. Ranma was faster, stronger, and an all-around better fighter...but Naruto could use magic. An elvish spell to make clones, and several wind based spells. I got a pretty good laugh in at him when I had to pull him out of that tree... At least he finally understands that magic is something he needs to be careful of. I'm just happy that they didn't stay enemies, Naruto seems to be good at making friends with hard headed people like Ranma. Though I'm not sure I like his new obsession with magic...
"Hey old man! You coming? There's still food to be had!"
Dekar chuckles and, after stuffing his journal into his bag, follows after the boy he is beginning to see as his own son into the small festival.
