The pigtailed boy rather doubted that Michiru had been lost, as he was certain that she would have told him. She certainly was smart enough to recognize that he would have to know something like that, and he rather thought that her Master had been lost to the next life somehow. Considering the idea that someone could dump a Neogirl who could radiate elegance and poise even in the scraps that she was wearing in her weary condition just didn't make sense. Ami had seemed to take to her, and Usagi's caring heart had been touched by the green haired Neogirl's plight, but it had been her reaction to him that had really confused him. For some reason, she treated him with deference, and almost... servant like behavior, acting as if he was an authority figure, when he'd never wanted to be one.
Haruka's behavior was something that he could understand though. From the time that he'd saved her from that beast in the forest, she'd seemed to hold him in high esteem. It had seemed that his willingness to put himself in the line of fire and take damage to get a chance to succeed was impressive to her. From that first meeting, she'd seemed to be willing to follow his lead, and was somehow taken with him. Of course, he was pleased that she liked him, and that his original Neogirls were apparently getting along with her, like how Minako was unafraid to talk about anything with her, and Makoto liked her 'aura of cool'.
He just had to wonder about how this was going to work out. As it was, they were already in a rather creepy situation, as they'd been through a number of villages where people had obviously gone missing a long time ago, but had left even intimate items behind. Had it not been spooky, he might have been bothered by how the other guys had ogled Haruka and Michiru until the lack of villagers had become too depressing. Not that he could blame them, as both Neogirls were attractive. The green haired girl was somehow managing to look lovely despite her lack of supplies, and was certainly going to clean up well. For her part, the short haired blonde had some wonderful legs, though it was quite odd that, given an outfit other than the rough skirt that she was wearing, she'd be able to pass for a male.
His only hope was that he'd get the chance to keep them with him. Near as he could tell, it seemed that the best place for them was with him, and it wasn't out of the question for him to be able to 'salvage' them. Many times, Neogirls in their situations were taken from their rescuers, so that they could be placed in spots that would help them, but he rather thought that their best chance rested with him. About the only problem that he could see was how to pay for their needs, but he was already seeing ways to help out. Even an idiot could see that Haruka liked sports, which would make it easier to enter her in races and such, and from the wistful look that Michiru sent the musical instruments that they passed from time to time, he thought that she might like dancing.
If there was anything that was good about having such stress though, it was the fact that it meant that he didn't have to pay quite as much attention to the fact that he was going through ghost town after ghost town. As far as he could tell, they had simply vanished, as there was no sign of what had happened to them. Had they just died from the disease, there would have been some sort of proof laying around, including that of the macabre kind. If they'd been taken by outside forces, then there should have been an indicator of a struggle. It didn't even seem that they'd left on their own, as so much was left behind, from bread now gone moldy, to pieces of 'intimate' apparel left for washing.
Recognizing that this wasn't exactly a warm and friendly place, Ranma supressed a chill, and glanced around at the area around him, while:
