As things could have settled this wasn’t terribly bad. It wasn’t terribly good, but it wasn’t bad either.
The change to the timeline began way-way back in the Silver Millennium as the Queen gave birth. In the order-obsessed society the outcome was clear. A princess would be born, who would wed a nobleman as she ascended to become Queen, then be given the Silver Crystal, Ginzuishou, and lead the Moon Kingdom as the old Queen retired.
But in this time-line a little black cat sneezed. Then let out a smirk, as it returned to it’s well.
And with that small amount of Chaos the Queen gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
There was almost instant upheaval. The queen giving birth to a baby boy? Unheard of? A Queen, not a King, would rule the Kingdom!
Thus Queen Serenity prepared to conceive another child, but before she could take her mate to the bedchambers... He choked to death on his dinner...
This had made the situation a tad more unbearable, Queen Serenity the First had decreed that the Queen would take only one husband in her lifespan, and would not be able to remarry. And the people would not accept an heir born out of wedlock.
Still the current Queen, Serenity the Twenty-Fourth, saw a simple solution: her child would marry. So once the Prince was seven she went about to find him a wife, and quickly found a most suitable girl, Serena, a daughter of one of her best generals and a distant relative. And all was well again.
Save the small detail that as they grew up the Moon Prince and Serena didn’t want to marry. They had grown close, yes, but in the manner that siblings would, not lovers. And Serena was quite taken with that Prince from that backwater Earth...
Queen Serenity began to force the engagement through, to no success. Her boy was unusually stubborn, and so was the love-struck Serena. The Queen quickly announced Plan B at a massive formal ball that even the Earth Prince was allowed into. She would simply engage her son to all the Princesses of the planets until he chose one for a wife! She secretly pushed for that nice Venus Princess, or even the Princess of Neptune. Both would make fine Queens...
Except Beryl had attacked that day. That part of story didn’t change, everyone died, Beryl and her forces were trapped, and the Queen sent everyone forward, the Prince included, into the future.
The awakening of Sailor Moon and her Senshi happened about the same as before, except that they were seeking the Prince, and not the Princess. Usagi, the reincarnated Serena, led the Senshi as Sailor Moon, but never as the Princess. The attack on the Moon Kingdom was revealed to the Senshi, but they had not found the Prince. What HAD happened was a bit of confusion.
In the normal timeline this was when Usagi learned she was the Moon Princess, wielder of the Ginzuishou, in love with the Earth Prince.
This time they learned of her failed engagement to the Moon Prince, and her love of the Earth Prince Endymion. They also learned of the Queen’s Declaration, of how all the Princesses, now Senshi, were engaged to the Prince until he took one for a bride. The Sailors Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Mercury blushed a bit, each picturing themselves standing next to the King as his Queen.
Which brought up the next bit of confusion, as they had thought that it was the King that ruled back in the Silver Millennium, and not the Queen. The absence of a King was explained as simply the King had died unexpectedly, and that the Queen was unwilling to remarry and allow another King to take the throne.
And so the Senshi rallied, swearing themselves to a Prince they had yet to meet. First order of business was to defeat Beryl, a task that was accomplished, but just barely, and thanks to the Ginzuishou that Sailor Moon used. While she could not use it at it’s full power, what she could do with it was sufficient to defeat Beryl. Even as she worked to defeat evil she swore that someday she would hand over the Ginzuishou to its rightful owner, the Moon Prince.
Ali and En came and left, and the Black Moon was defeated. They faced the Death Busters and the Dead Moon Circus. They increased their ranks with Sailors Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, and even Pluto. Yet even as Galactica fell they saw no sign of the Prince.
With all known foes dealt with the Senshi concentrated on the one goal they had yet to accomplish. Finding their Prince...
Reborn as one Ranma Saotome...
