“Where have you been, Potter?” glared Percy, looking as the supposed Boy-Who-Lived walked into the Common Room.
Harry just smiled. “I was on my way to detention when I was told to come here by our Head of House,” replied Harry. “Though I was a bit confused by her response. One would think that if a troll was in the castle, we would be safer in a room with only two entrance points rather than to send us out unprotected to our dorms.”
“Excuse me?” asked Percy, angered slightly that the troublemaker was once again questioning the teachers.
“Well,” said Harry, as the students quieted down to hear him, “there was plenty of staff in the Great Hall to protect everyone.”
“The troll was in the dungeons,” said Percy. “We were perfectly safe to move here and free up the professors to look for the troll.”
“Dungeons you say,” said Harry, tilting his head to the side. “As in the place where the Slytherin dorm is located?” he asked.
“Maybe it'll clubs some snakes if we’re lucky,” said Ron with a smile as he continued to eat, earning a few chuckles from some of the other students who had had some bad run-ins with that dorm.
Percy paused for a bit, before he shook his head. “I’m sure Professor Dumbledore considered this before he ordered us to our dorms.”
“And have you been able to inform anyone as to any missing students?” asked Harry, feeling a bit of … contentment as he continued to talk to Percy. The boy was obviously agitated answering his questions, the last seeming to make him pale a bit.
“Who’s missing?” asked Ron, looking around.
“Well, I do recall a certain bushy-haired girl was last seen crying in the bathrooms,” said Harry, feeling pleasure flow over his senses as the room became very quiet.
Percy gulped, feeling very ill. If it was learned that he had failed to inform his Head of House that everyone wasn’t accounted for… No, he was responsible for the boys’ count. A female prefect would be the only one who could get a complete count from their side of the dorms.
But the point became moot as McGonagall entered the room.
“Professor,” said Percy hurriedly, not wanting to appear as if he was performing his job poorly, “I have been informed we are missing a female student!”
“Ms. Granger was found and has been escorted to the hospital wing for shock,” replied McGonagall, noticing how several girls were now glaring at the youngest male Weasley. “Mr. Potter, the Headmaster would like to see you.”
Harry just blinked. “This isn’t about my detention is it?” he asked innocently. “Because if it is, I do believe you excused me from it due to a rampaging troll.”
“No, Mr. Potter, it is not,” she said, her mind focused on the boy. “Come along, we will discuss the issue at the Headmaster’s office.”
“My qualms about the point system then?” asked Harry innocently, not moving towards the door.
“As I said, we will discuss it when we meet the Headmaster.”
“Very well then,” said Harry, taking one step forward before pausing. He turned around, looking at his housemates. “Excuse me,” he said, finally raising the hand and arm which was still coated with troll’s blood. “Does anyone per chance know how to remove blood from a foul smelling troll from my robes? I’d rather not have to purchase a new robe to be rid of the smell.”
When silence was the only answer, he just shrugged. “Oh well, perhaps the Headmaster will know of a spell.” Nodding, he turned and left, passing the stunned professor.
