Still her mother chose to call her in just as Mimi was getting the hang of it, just to help her prepare floral arrangements for tomorrow’s recognition ceremony where all of the chosen would stand up in the village square and declare their hopes and dreams for finally meeting their chosen partner the coming spring or autumn equinox.
I wonder just who I’ll get for a partner, and what they’ll be like? Will it be someone beautiful and mysterious like Ishida-san’s partner Lunamon, or will I be paired with someone brave and strong like maybe Izumi-san’s partner Bearmon? I just hope that a DigiGnome visits me tonight I don’t think that I can wait another four years.
Elsewhere in the village Yamato and Takeru looked in to the main room of their home to see what had become an all too common occurrence in recent months, the sight of their parents arguing. “Don’t lie to me Hiroki! I know why you rarely visit home anymore, you have someone else in the city don’t you.” Natsuko screamed through tear-stained eyes.
“I keep telling you dear there is no one else, my work in the city and the distance just makes it difficult to commute back and forth during the week.” Hiroki pleaded back, “Once they finish laying the rail-line to the port it will be easier for me to make it home more often, I might even be able to put that walk-in closet of an apartment on the market.”
“I knew it; you are keeping another woman in Edo.” Mrs. Ishida said now positively fuming, “Am I just getting too old for you is that it?”
“Please calm down Natsu-chan,” her partner Lunamon urged her, “I am sure that this is really nothing.”
“I assure you Natuko-san I am with Hiroki constantly in the city, and he has done nothing unbecoming a proper husband while in Edo.” Kudamon stated in a calm yet proper tone, “Well except for passing in his office every once in a while, as well as in Katou-san’s bar about twice a week. I assure you that he has remained faithful to you everyday that he is in the capital.”
“How do I know that you are telling the truth, and not just standing up for him? You are his digimon after all!
“Natsuko in as many years as you have known me,” Kudamon stated firmly to his partner’s wife, “how many times have I spoken my mind when someone has needed a harsh dose of reality regardless of how much it hurt?”
“There is always a first time!” Natsuko yelled at the tube fox digimon only to feel a tiny hand on her shoulder.
Her partner Lunamon looked at her with eyes filled with concern, “Then listen to me Natsuko, can’t this wait until after the solstice celebration is over with? We wouldn’t want Ishida and Takeru’s memories of meeting their partners to be filled with sadness from their parents fighting after all.”
Natsuko steamed for a minute, as she centered herself and settled her temper, “Your right Lunamon.” she said shutting her eyes but immediately turned her gaze towards her husband, “However do not think for one minute that this means that you are off the hook; the moment the festival is over we will discuss this.”
