Digimon Rune: The Determination of Light (DARK) [Episode 198999]

by The Insane Hiker

Halfway through the day while most of the children of Odaiba Village played in a nearby field; Taichi Kamiya excused himself to return home. Of course none of his friends would accuse him of being a party-pooper, after all what responsible big-brother could play the day away while his little sister was at home sick in bed.

“Hikari,” Taichi called out as he peeked around the blinder that separated the sleeping area from the rest of their families house to see his sister still laying down in her futon as she was this morning and yesterday, using the back of his hand Taichi carefully gaged her temperature after taking the rag off.

“Tai am I getting any better,” Hikari said right before I coughed, “Will I be able to make the trip?”

“Hikari calm down, the first trip is still months away.” Tai almost smiled at her concern as he went to fetch some water and a fresh cloth for her forehead, “Besides you feel a lot closer to normal than you were yesterday, a few more days of bed-rest and you’ll be as fit as Penguinmon during a fish migration.”

Kari briefly smiled remembering the sight of their father’s partner going so ballistic that he got tangled in their fishnet, still the joy at the memort only brought on new doubt. As her brother moved to apply the newly dampened cloth to her head, Hikari turned to face him and asked, “Tai what if the DigiGnomes don’t visit me tonight?”

“Are you kidding Kari,” Tai smiled wide as he answered her, “Any digimon lucky enough to be your partner will be dying to meet you.”

Meanwhile in a dark and foreboding castle in the Digital World a tired Gatomon looked in fear towards the door to her cell it opened, unable to move to a darker corner of the cell and hide as she was shackled to the wall with crome-digizoit chains. Fortunately for the captive her fears were unfounded as the one who opened the door to her cell wasn’t her captor but her closest and dearest friend, “Wizardmon ”

“Hello Gatomon, I’ve got good news your circuit coin will be in the nearest Portal Wells in plenty of time for the Night of the Winter Solstice.”

“That’s great,” Gatomon said as her blue-eyes shown with renewed hope, “Myotismon was furious when he found out that I no longer had mine, how were you able to smuggle it out?”

“I had Ogremon deliver it,” noting the troubled expression on his friend’s face, “I know what you’re thinking, but no one would ever suspect him of doing this and his honor code means he won’t go back on his word. Besides for all his ferocity he wouldn’t be one to stand between a digimon and his partner meeting.”

“Wizardmon you know that as important as getting my coin sent out tonight, I still need to be near one of the Wells in time for the Equinox,” Gatomon sighed as her hope deflated, “There is no way I’ll be able to get away from Myotismon in time, he’ll make sure to keep me here if only to curry favor with my sisters.” Gatomon’s felt a bitter taste in her mouth as she thought of her formerly kind sisters who had become Myotismon’s fellow Nightmare Lords Lady Devimon and Persiamon, high-officers in the steadily but silently growing army of the Dark Master Piedmon.

“Actually there is one way Gatomon,” Wizardmon closed his eyes as he sighed and his grip tightened on his staff to hard that it shook, “The Primary Village, even Myotismon wouldn’t be foolish enough to attack a place guarded by both Jijimon and Babamon.”

“Wizardmon you can’t do that, if Myotismon had found out that you digitized me to let me escape you would just take my place,” Gatomon cried, “I can’t let you make that sacrifice for me.”

“Gatomon doing this is the least I can do to help you find freedom with your partner,” Wizardmon said as he shakily raised his staff with tears in his eyes, “Please don’t make this any harder for me.”

“Wizardmon Stop ”

“Good-bye old friend, may your next life be full of happiness,” Wizardmon steeled himself as he took careful aim even with his eyes full of unshed tears to make sure that he made this quick, “THUNDER BALL ” And in a flash of light Gatomon disappeared, and Wizardmon fell to the floor sobbing as the sound of running and shouting echoed down the dungeon halls.
