He had noted a three pronged device which he'd briefly rested his head against and focussed on the three Tendo daughters, especially Akane. The odd thing that had happened was that he'd gotten some alien voice in his head that had said something about how it was acknowledged.
When Akane had shown up though - she'd changed.
Metal plates, a dark blue in color, had been affixed to her body. Grabbing her unresponsive arm and checking it determined that the metal was actually part of her skin. The metal was oddly warm though, and he could swear he could feel a pulse through the metal as if it were-
-as if it were part of her.
"Akane? Are you okay?" tried Ranma.
"AKN10D0 is a fully functional medium infantry cyborg," responded the unit. "Will you inspect internal structure?"
"I guess," said Ranma, still looking over the armored Akane.
Chest plates clicked and swung open.
"Close it back up!" said Ranma quickly.
The unit closed itself up, running a quick cleaning and purifying for any dust particles that might have infiltrated during the brief inspection.
Ranma shuddered as he knew enough anatomy to know that a lot of that stuff had been altered and that there were extra organs in there he didn't know anything about. "Uhm. Can you be turned back to an unaltered 'unit'?"
"Are you requesting destruction of unit?" asked AKN10D0, pointing a palm at her own throat.
"NO!" said Ranma, realizing now that he had to be very very careful of his wording. Which was not his usual situation at all.
AKN10D0 returned to her default pose. "Is Master requesting AKN10DO be reconfigured to a different role set? Master should be apprised that such a reconfiguration is not recommended and carries substantial degradation of performance."
Ranma took a few minutes to turn that over in his head and try to understand it. "No. I'm your Master?"
AKN10D0 determined that this inspector was without a bodyguard unit and that likely she was being auditioned for the part. The chance to be useful brought great joy to her. "Is this an acceptable situation, where this unit will be under direct control of Master?"
Ranma turned that over in his head. Being under his control was better than being under the control of some alien doohickey, wasn't it? "Yes."
AKN10D0 communicated with the network and the designation was changed.
The combat unit was also aware of something else. The inspector was male while she was of female gender. "Does Master desire reproductive role of unit?"
"Ahh, I guess," said Ranma, thinking that maybe answering 'no' could be worse.
AKN10D0 blinked as that was sent and processed. She was now a bodyguard/reproductive unit specifically assigned to the inspector. She knew her place and purpose and was one with it. She would excel in her duties. "This unit will go to rest mode while data and upgrades are uploaded."
"Ah sure, go ahead," said Ranma, scratching his head.
When Akane stood against the wall, Ranma nearly had a fit when tubes extended from the wall to receptors on Akane's back. He had a feeling ripping those loose would be bad.
He was still trying to figure those out when Kasumi entered. Like Akane, she had been altered. Kasumi, however, was:
