"Don't fret," said Froderick with a shrug. "Any success I can get."
"Uhm, right," said Ranma. "I'm not sure what series she's from."
The confused looking girl merely continued to look confused.
"Important a detail?" asked Froderick. "The spell didn't fail?"
"No, I don't think so," said Ranma. "I wouldn't call it a failure. Not exactly."
"Chii?" asked the girl.
"She's cute, to boot," pointed out Froderick. Not because he was a dirty old man. Just kind of desperate and middle aged.
"I suppose..." said Ranma. "Do we really need another maid though?"
"Well, maybe so, maybe no," admitted Froderick.
"Chii?" asked the girl again, cocking her head.
"Something wrong where she can't speak?" asked Ranma.
"That problem you had, it's not so bad," pointed out Froderick.
"Chii..." said Chii, apparently getting bored.
"Sewing skills, if we can impart," thoughtfully mused Froderick, "would give her a place to do her part."
"Worth a shot I suppose," said Ranma, glancing at where Rei was trying to knit. 'Trying' was the operative word.
"Chii?" asked the girl.
"Where is he?" asked Soun Tendo, his voice ominous.
Akane shrugged. If Ryoga had been around, her father would have her married off to the jerk. Then he'd go through a long and involved revenge for what he'd done to her. Since he wasn't - the wedding was on hold. Him staying away was better for both of them.
