"Tonight on Sixty Soundbites," said the official-looking newsreader in serious tones. "Good Senshi versus Bad Senshi versus Count Devil and the Invaders."
"Oh, great," said Haruka Ten'ou - her tone indicating she wasn't exactly delighted by this topic.
"Our first guest is Professor Tomoe, who has studied the Senshi and Gate mechanics ever since he was 'purified' of the demon Geramatou. Professor, thank you for speaking with us.""My pleasure, Edgar," said the Professor.
"Now, you may be considered biased because of your daughter," began the commentator.
"Not really," said the Professor. "Oh, I understand the concept easily enough. Some scientists let personal biases or their own funding-sources determine not only the course of study but the results. A true scientist seeks to overcome such things and to find out the truth no matter how insane that might be in our current worldview."
"Hence many of your colleagues referring to you as a 'mad scientist,'" said Edgar.
"Frustrated possibly, but I'm hardly angry," said the Professor.
"Be that as it may, what of this view that there are 'good Senshi' and 'bad Senshi' or are they all 'bad Senshi'?" asked the commentator.
"It's not the power that defines the person," said the Professor. "Think about it. Oh, we tend to label people and try to define them. Really though, are all Raxxon stockholders insanely wealthy moneygrubbing amoralists as your own network tends to portray them? No - absolutely normal people have their stock in their 401Ks and other financial portfolios. Are all Gatekeepers hardbitten ex-military fanatics like that Major Thom from the States? No. So it's like any other cross section of humanity. There are good people, bad people, competent folk, incompetent morons, and so on."
"How can we tell for sure?" asked Edgar. "What kind of proof have they got?"
"What about their past actions?" said the Professor. "On the one hand you have Senshi like Sailor Moon and her group, who run around healing people and turning monsters to dust. I'd put them in the 'good' category. On the other hand there's that pair of snipers who try not to involve themselves with normal people and snipe from the shadows. They'd definitely go into the 'bad' category."
"That Uranus and Neptune made attempts at killing your daughter not influencing your decision at all," said Edgar.
"It wouldn't matter who they tried to kill, just that they DID strike from ambush with lethal intent," said the Professor.
The clip ended with the commentator speaking directly to the camera. "The Professor might be biased, but those experts we spoke with tend to agree about the two groups. With a single caveat, these Senshi are all very young to be dealing with this level of power and responsibility. Can they handle it or will it warp them into the sort of villain they usually face? Our next clip is with noted child psychologist...
"Okay, that's bad," said Haruka.
"How many actually watch this program?" asked Michiru. "Didn't they lose most of their credibility back with the exploding gastanks?"
"Enough," said Haruka. "I think maybe a vacation until things quiet down some."
"Oh?" asked Michiru. "Where?"
"There's a race across the Australian outback," said Haruka. "I think I'll send in my application."
