Haruka frowned at the television for a few moments.
"Haruka?" asked Michiru.
"Put. Her. Foot. In. It," said Haruka, emphasizing each word. "This has become a complete FUBAR."
"Well, it looks like AEGIS won't be getting in anyone's way," said Michiru. "It's already apparent that they're taking the blame for the majority of it."
"Only because they're available for the press and politicians to haul out in front of the cameras," said Haruka, her expression dark. "If they catch any of the Senshi right now?"
"Well, they can only shoot or hang us once," pointed out Michiru. "IF they find us."
Haruka let out a deep breath. "Little Miss Death Star?"
"Yes, I saw," said Michiru. An early newsclip had shown the haunted-looking girl in the hospital bed. The very heavily guarded hospital bed.
"They're not blaming her at all, so after everyone calms down," said Haruka thoughtfully, "we might be able to operate on that."
"How so?" asked Michiru.
"Good Senshi, Bad Senshi," said Haruka, her expression indicating she was still working out the details. "There have been Sailor Senshi who have gone crazy or turned to the darker forces after all. The so-called Sailor Wars entailed things like that."
"So we simply declare that we're 'good senshi'?" asked Michiru. "Will they buy it?"
"IF that image was correct, we may soon be facing an enemy who has Senshi powers AND the sort of power level Lightwings had," said Haruka. "Frankly I'm going to want all the backup and firepower I can get my hands on for that fight."
Michiru nodded thoughtfully, acknowledging the point.
"So what do we doooooo?" said Usagi. None of them had liked Lightwings. Not at all.
"I have to tell them, they paid for it," said Rei, her face resting on the table. "I'm just one of the consultants with a psychic track record."
"They'll get the corroboration, then," said Ami from where she sat.
"Oh yes," said Rei. "Count Devil had a hand in it, I've had to work with his nastiness a time or two and I caught his psychic stench in there. Yet it was one of OURS who planned and laid the trap. A Sailor Senshi killed Lightwings."
"I heard mobs were demonstrating outside the Diet building today," said Minako. "I didn't know that Lightwings had done some of the things they're talking about."
"Healing the sick, the lame, terminal cancer cases, oh yes," said Ami. "I think it was more about AEGIS seeking PR but he certainly did his share of work in other projects."
"What about the reports of his 'magic girls' going nuts?" asked Minako.
"As to that," said Ami, using her computer to access a news website.
