Anyone in Nerima who was in the know was well aware that Ranma held a great dislike for his Jusenkyo Curse. This dislike was of course far more mellow than the dislike that Ranma had originally held for the curse in and Ranma had somewhat grudgingly accepted that the curse was a part of who he was. In fact Ranma had stopped chasing after every cure that was rumored to exist, but that was because he had figured out that none of those so called cures actually worked. Besides, his girl half had proved very useful to Ranma for a number of challenges.
Now Ranma had to face a completely different sort of challenge that would require the use of his cursed form. Michiru had revealed to Ranma during her fit of crying that she was attracted to other girls. Despite the commonly held belief at school, Ranma had not slept through the Sex Ed class and he knew exactly what Michiru was talking about. The only reason why Ranma didn’t show any outward signs that his hormones were there was due to his almost unique knowledge about girls.
Unlike any other man in Japan, Ranma had the ability to give Michiru exactly what she wanted. The only question was would he give it to her? As Ranma thought about this fact he had to repress a slight shiver. It wasn’t the thought of two women going at it like rabbits that seemed wrong to him; in fact Ranma didn’t care one way or the other one that particular social issue. The problem for Ranma was the thought of himself entering into such a relationship. He was a man and the thought of doing THAT in his girl-form just seemed wrong on so many levels.
However, Ranma had seen the look in Michiru’s eyes as she fell into his arms sobbing. Here was his wife crying due to all the changes that were going on in her life. If he could stop those tears for even a moment thanks to his curse, shouldn’t he? When he was still relatively young, Ranma had heard a passing monk say: “A true husband will labor away all day in the most horrible of conditions. All so he can come home knowing that he has provided for his wife and family.” As the monk’s words came back to him, Ranma knew what he had to do.
Ranma got off his futon and stood up not paying any consideration to the fact that his sheet had been his only covering. He then looked down at Michiru and held out his hand saying, “Come Michiru there is something that I have to show you.” Michiru accepted Ranma’s hand and stood up with a faint blush on her cheeks. Even though Michiru knew that Ranma had been intimate with her, she was still slightly nervous at thought of a man seeing her nude.
With her hand firmly in his, Ranma led Michiru to the doorway and opened the door. Ranma then did a quick head check to make sure that the coast was clear before he lead Michiru to the bathroom. Once inside the bathroom and the door was closed Ranma turned to face Michiru and said, “Before I say anything more I have to know, do you believe in magic?”
While she was surprised at Ranma’s question, Michiru did nod her head wondering what Ranma was getting at. Ranma then took a deep breath and said, “The reason I asked this is because I am cursed. You see there are these magic springs in China and if you fall in you are turned into whatever creature has drowned in the springs. Hot water will temporarily return a cursed person back to their original form like I am now. However, cold water activates the curse.” As Ranma mentioned the cold water he turned on the cold water faucet in the sink and stoically stuck his hand into the cold water.
