Not that Ranma's marriage to Yuka was what would create that shock, and Akane knew it. Sure, it was odd when two teenagers married, but it wasn't like it was hidden or anything. They did keep it low key, of course, and tended to behave themselves though. People did whisper, and she knew that her friend had been asked plenty of times about what it was like to be with a guy. Yet, anyone would have either known that she was married, or learned about it quickly enough.
No, what was a big shock was that her own father was blindly going along with this 'promise', even though he knew that her friends were married. Hell, it was 'Yuka Saotome' on the school's attendance rolls, and Kuno had even made some stupid speech about the subject during one of his rants towards Akane. Her father was even supposed to have been at the wedding, and would have attended if he hadn't had to attend that memorial service instead.
All that confused the heck out of Akane, who couldn't figure out just why her sole living parent was so clueless. He might have spent a lot of time dwelling on his thoughts, but she rather thought that he should have managed to add 'two' and 'two'. As it was, even if he didn't get how silly he was being, everyone else would, and she'd be humiliated in front of everyone that she knew, since they would rightly wonder about why her father was trying to marry her or one of her sisters off to her friend's husband.
If anything, this was going to be a huge mess. About the only reason that Yuka was still living with her parents was so that she could continue on with school uninterrupted until Ranma came back. Even then, he was likely to join her in classes, and there was a chance that they would just commute from his family's house once she moved in with him. Everything was on a road to having the couple live on in wedded bliss long into the future.
Both mothers were teaching Yuka how to cook, clean, and do all the chores that even a modern woman would have to take care of. Neighbor women were making teasing comments about the prospect of children. There were soft questions asked from the one who was seen as the 'voice of experience'. Even the shop owners and stall keepers were treating Yuka differently, expecting that she would have reason to shop for more essential items.
And Soun Tendo just smiled like there was nothing standing in the way of one of his daughters marrying Ranma Saotome.
Growling under her breath, Akane tried to not glare at her father, while:
