Haruka had no idea what had happened. One moment she had been on the verge of killing the bastard who had corrupted her daughter, the next she had crashed out of the bedroom window. She was grateful that there was a tree right outside the window. Unfortunately, it had very thin branches, and she broker most of them on the way down. Still, they had slowed her fall enough that she didn't break or sprain anything upon hitting the ground.
She had a number of minor cuts, but she had been hurt worse plenty of times racing, so she was able to ignore that. Growling, she pushed herself to her feet and ran back into the house, completely ignoring Setsuna's warning call to not bother Hotaru. She wasn't going to bother Hotaru, she was going to save her.
She raced up the stairs and went through the open doorway to the bedroom, this time foregoing her battle cry. Once again, just as she reached the bed, the room seemed to shift and she went flying out the window. This time, however, there were no branches to protect her from the fall, and she landed with a resounding crack and a scream of pain.
Setsuna followed Michiru out to the backyard, raising an eyebrow as the girl went into a panic. While it was clear that Haruka had a couple of nasty breaks from the fall, it wasn't like she had never been injured before. "Really, Haruka, one would think you would learn to listen to me when I tell you something."
Michiru turned her head and glared at the older woman. "Setsuna, what's going on?"
"At a guess, Ranma didn't appreciate Haruka interrupting his personal time with Hotaru. I wasn't sure how he would respond, but I can't say I'm too surprised."
"Ranma?" Michiru looked confused as she spoke. "Who's Ranma?"
"Hotaru's husband, of course. Really Michiru," Setsuna said with a disappointing frown, "it's like you pay no attention to what your daughter does in her free time."
Michiru's eyes widened. "Husband? When did Hotaru-chan get married!?"
"Yesterday, of course," Setsuna replied. "I know Hotaru invited you. She was very upset that you didn't come." Setsuna then gave a smirk. "Of course, maybe you did."
At the implied event, Michiru finally cracked and fainted.
"Yes," Setsuna whispered to herself, "it's far more entertaining to be on this side of things."
Genma reacted to the attack from the air with instinct and experience. He immediately took to the air himself, casually dodging the hasty blow before punching Ukyo in the right shoulder, kicking her in the face, and than using her head to propel himself higher so that he could easily land on the roof while his enemy was forced down into the dirt.
"And what is your problem, girl?" Genma glared down to the young martial artist who was pushing herself up. He had to admit, he hadn't felt this good about himself in a long time.
"You ran away again, you bastard!" Ukyo screamed as she through a pair of mini-spatulas at the older man.
Genma easily shifted to the side, letting the spatulas pass him. "I did not run away, girl." Alright, he had run away, but he wasn't going to admit that.
"Akane said you packed up and left! She thought you went to the Amazons."
"Hmm..." Genma said as he thought about that for a moment. The Amazons had some good techniques, but he wanted a comfortable life, which meant the city. Still... "That means Soun has not told his children yet."
"Told them what?" came the now curious question from Ukyo. This was not the Genma she knew, and she wanted to know why.
"That the Tendo engagement is off. It's why we left."
Ukyo blinked at that. "What?"
"The Tendo engagement is off. Ranma will not marry Akane or either of Soun's other daughters. There will be no joining of the schools."
"But...but..." Ukyo's mind took a few moments to work through that. "That means...that...Ranma-honey is now free to marry me! Is he here?"
"No," Genma replied, not caring that he was sending his son another headache. "I told him it was time to find a home of his own."
"A home of our own," Ukyo whispered. "No need to live above the shop...I have to find him!" Without wasting another word or waiting to see if Genma had any other words, Ukyo jumped out of the backyard to begin her hunt again.
