And it was a fine day in early autumn when Tsukino Usagi dropped the bombshell, almost two years after a certain Sailor Galaxia - and the massive chunk of Chaos within her - had come a-calling.
"...What. What. WHAT?"
Rei was almost choking, while Ami and Makoto looked flabbergasted. Minako was frozen with the teapot in her hands, the tea beginning to overflow from her cup.
Luna and Artemis on the other hand were just holding their heads in their paws, making semi-identical noises of faint dismay.
Usagi, though red up to her ears, was resolute.
"What I said, was - Mamo-chan and I have gotten married. We went and signed the papers at the City Hall, yesterday."
Yes, that was what she'd thought her friend, comrade and Princess had said, but -
Rei sighed, then. Oh, dear.
"...Usagi. Are you... Um..."
Ami blinked at that, as did Makoto.
"Oh, you mean - Ahh!"
"You mean - Usagi, you're...?..."
"Nevermindthatnow."
And now Usagi was really, really red in the face.
"But anyhow, we still want to do some kind of ceremony, and we thought that - Um, Rei-chan, your Grandpapa does do weddings too, right? That's what it said in the Hikawa Shrine home page, anyhow..."
Rei blinked at that. Oh, right.
"Um, we do, but - I think the last time we did one has to be about six years ago, and - um, Usagi, just how many people are we talking about, here?"
"Um..." Usagi thought about that. "Well, my family and...some of Mamo-chan's friends from Uni, I suppose. And his Professor, what was his name, and... And all you people, of course, and Setsuna-san and Haruka-san and Michiru-san and Hotaru-chan, and..."
OK, let's make that "lots". Rei sighed, again.
"Well, I hope Papa'd come, anyhow - He's still mad at Mamo-chan 'cause we went and got married without telling him first. Well, Mama said she'd stuff him in a suit and drag him to the wedding if she had to, and that she'd make Shingo help too, so..."
"...You got married without telling your parents first?" Ami mumbled, sweatdropping.
"Well, I didn't tell you guys either, or Luna or Artie...Um, sorry for that, anyway. But I'm 18 now you know, I can get married without my parents permission."
Well, that was true, legally speaking. But...
It was Minako who said what most of the others were thinking of, then.
"Well, then. What's Mamoru-san doing now, anyhow? Shouldn't he be with you, if you're going around talking about..."
"Well, um..." Usagi if anything looked more embarrassed then ever.
"About that... Well, you know, he got a scholarship to France this time, and he's leaving in two weeks, and..."
Usagi groaned, watching her four friends mouth drop open for the 4th or 5th time this evening.
"Two Weeks!?!"
Four voices in perfect harmony, riiiight. Luna and Artemis groaned yet again.
"We told you so, We told you soo..."
Meiou Setsuna smiled, bittersweet, at the scene playing out on the Time Gate's screens.
Once upon a time, there had been a Princess, and a Prince.
Who had loved each other.
