"You're welcome," the eldest Tendo daughter told her with a smile.
"How long do you think that he will be unconscious?"
"I'm sure that you would know..."
"Ah yes, but I am not the one taking the lessons from the Healers."
Her step-daughter blushed. "I'm only a student..."
"Yes, and a very good one. I wouldn't mind if you would help me."
"If you think so."
"I do."
"Well... I don't think he will be out for long. It was only a shock, and he didn't hit himself that hard."
"That's fortunate. We have some things to discuss."
"Like the engagement?"
"Exactly."
"Umm..."
"Yes?"
"Why do you think that Father..?"
"Popped this in on you girls?" Gel asked Kasumi nodded back at her. "To be honest, I don't know. He's never said anything about this before."
"So you knew nothing about this?"
"I was as clueless as you." There were some groans from her husband as she spoke and she looked down at him, "And it looks like we can ask him why. Welcome back husband."
Soun's eyes cracked open. "What happened?"
"You fainted," his dauighter told him.
"But why? I had this odd dream that my old friend came for a visit and that his son was a girl."
"I'm afraid that wasn't a dream," Gel informed the Tendo patriarch.
"What?!"
"Ranma is apparently female."
"But Saotome said he had a son!"
"Well then, he lied."
"But he wouldn't..."
"Why is that?"
"We survived some very dark times together!"
"So what does the engagement have to do with that?"
"We made a promise that when our children came of age that we would engage them to bring the two schools together."
"Did it ever occur to you that he might lie?"
"No, of course not!"
"Are you sure?"
"Well... I'm... pretty sure..."
The Amazon massaged her temple and sighed. "I see... I guess we'll just have to deal with it then. Kasumi, in a few minutes, will you go and ask Ranma if she wants to use the bath?"
"Of course. But what about Shampoo?"
"We'll deal with that as it comes. And we'll have to find out if your sister has brought back your siblings yet."
Kasumi smiled at the mention of the pair of... handfuls that her sister had to collect and went to go do what she had been asked. And while she did that:
