Present Past: Information and Misinformation [Episode 206068]

Teletha was frowning. Kaname scowled.

"Wow, so they both ended up in your bed?" asked Kyoko.

"Yeah," said Weber, interrupting Sosuke. "And this guy didn't have a clue what to do. He's been raised in guerilla camps and in military 'hot spots' since he was able to walk. He has NO clue what to do in any situation that doesn't involve high explosives."

"'Any problem can be solved with a suitable application of high explosives'," quoted Sosuke. Then he frowned and appended that. "Unless we're talking something like a hull breach or vehicle repair. Fortunately I have added such skills to my portfolio."

"See?" asked Kurz Weber.

"You weren't kidding," agreed Kyoko. "No parents, huh?"

"No," said Sosuke.

"Hey, you're pretty sharp to figure that out right away," said Kurz Weber.

"I read manga," said Kyoko. "It was either that or a stupid father that dragged him around on a ten-year training mission to teach him the Arts Of War."

"So what's your station, data processing or communications, right?" flirted Weber.

"Communications," agreed Kyoko. "I'm still going to school, but I'm with the audio-visual department. Oh, and Kaname, you can't sneak away just yet."

"Crap," said Kaname, who'd been skulking off.

"Which brings us neatly back around to the romantic triangle now developing between our young and esteemed Captain," said Kurz, "your friend and Sosuke."

Sosuke frowned ever so slightly more.

"A romantic triangle means three people, two of whom are interested in the same person," said Kurz to Sosuke. "It's a classical conflict for stories that's been around at least since the Greeks in literature. Though that all three have esper ratings is a new development."

"Cadet Chidori, Sergeant Sagara, Captain Testarossa," said Kyoko, taking in the details. "So we also have the forbidden fruit angle as normally relations between different ranks..."

"You're a P-8 in Telemechanics/Telepathy, right Captain?" asked Kurz.

Teletha nodded slightly, her pale complexion showing the blush easily.

"Kaname's a Whispered too," said Kyoko. "She's a P-7 in Telemechanics/Telepathy."

"Oh, that could be a problem," said Kurz, frowning. "They were drunk and in physical contact with each other, right? I think I remember seeing something about that not being good."

Kaname's face fell. "Wait a minute. If she's Whispered and I'm Whispered then..."

"One exposure is unlikely to do anything," said Teletha. "We'd just feel more comfortable in each other's presence."

"Sosuke's got a trace of it too," said Kurz. "Though he's only rated a P-2 Intuitive. Give him a weapon though and he's gotta be P-4 at least."

"Okay, that's understandable," said Kyoko. "His talents focussed on what he needed to survive as a kid."

Captain Testarossa to the bridge, Captain Testarossa to the bridge please, went an overhead announcement.

"Aw, just as we were getting to the good stuff," said Sergeant Weber.

"Such as the Major standing behind you?" asked Sagara.

"Too bad," said Melissa Mao as Kurz involuntarily twitched. "I was looking forward to hearing more nonsense out of your mouth. You two, with me. Launch bay #2. Now."

"What's the difficulty?" asked Sagara as soon as they'd cleared the cafeteria.

Melissa Mao didn't even look back as she replied.
