Friends And Family: Mirrors Of Karma [Episode 206603]

by Kender

His memory wasn't something that even Ranma relied on, so he was rather strained by the fact that he had to go through his recollections. Yet, he had no other choice, as recent events had proven that he needed to go over what he remembered. This was important, since it had the possible keys for him to see if there was any sign of what he'd been told being obvious any earlier.

His old buddy 'Ucchan' was apparently a girl, after all.

Intellectually, he understood it, as he'd been told enough times that even he could get the point. The problem was though that he hadn't seen his buddy in years, and neither one of them would show any obvious bodily signs for any one to note their genders. At the same time though, he couldn't recall a time when Ucchan had actually worn anything 'girly'. In fact, he realized that he couldn't even come up with a time when he'd seen his friend wear anything other than a miniature version of an okonomiyaki seller's uniform.

"This is just great," Ukyo grumbled as she came back to the table from her use of the Tendo phone. "If this wasn't as screwy as it was already."

"I take it that your call didn't go quite as you thought it would," Akane commented.

"Oh, it went fine for most of it. My father told me a lot."

"Like what?"

"'Like' Genma is full of crap. Apparently the promise was that I'd marry Ranma, and nothing else. I'd be his fiancee, and he'd get the yatai."

Many glares went towards the now weakly smiling panda.

"When did he change?"

"When is it fast enough for him to run away?" Ranko asked.

"Well... pretty damned quick. Not that my old man doesn't want me to get more chances."

Kasumi looked up from where she was putting out tea cups. "Oh, does he want you to do more?"

"Actually, yeah. He wants me to marry Ranma."

"Still?" went Akane.

"Seems that he thinks that since there's a chance for the promise to be fulfilled, we should do it."

"Kind of funny, huh?"

"Hilarious," the okonomiyaki chef snorted, loosening her top so that she could relax easier. "I've spent ten years of my life waiting to bash them both, and now I'm expected to become his wife."

"He doesn't seem like a bad sort...."

"Right...."

"Besides, you've got to think of it from his side," the youngest Tendo daughter insisted, and turned to look at her uncle. "Ranma, don't you have any problems with this?"

"Huh? Sure, but...." the pigtailed boy began, frowning slightly.

"'But' what?"

Uncertain of what he should do, Ranma turned to look at Ukyo, and noted her bright eyes and soft lips. Recognizing those for the attractive feminine qualities that they were, he glanced down... only to see where the loosening of her top had allowed her full breasts to move just a bit behind their bindings. With a nervous laugh, he turned his gaze towards the ceiling and scratched his nose. "It's just kind of funny, is all."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"I... just didn't expect to find out that my old buddy 'Ucchan' had turned out to be so cute."

"'Cute'?" whispered Ukyo, a blush spilling out over her face as she caught onto that single word.

"Man, who woulda thought that the kid that I'd tumbled around with way back then would become such a pretty girl."

"'Pretty'?"

Smiling, he turned to his sister, never noticing that the girl he was talking about was getting rather flustered. "Ta tell the truth, now that I think 'bout it, she's probably really hot. I mean, I ain't some sort of jerk who'd do all that sorta talkin' in the locker room, but I'm sure the guys at school'd fall all over themselves to get a chance ta be with her."

A goofy grin was plastered across Ukyo's face, and she was twitching just a bit.

Seeing that her little brother wasn't recognizing what exactly he was saying, Ranko raised her brows at him. "Then you don't have a problem with marrying her?"

"I wouldn't 'xactly say that," Ranma admitted.

"Oh?"

"We haven't seen each other in years. Hell, how do I know that she'd even wanna marry me?"

"But from what you've seen?"

"I damned well could do worse. Good lookin', and if she's kept up with what I remember, is a great cook? Not a bad package at all."

"Which means that you wouldn't mind hanging around her, now would you?" Nabiki asked, leaning forward with a purr in her voice.

"Doesn't seem to be a problem ta me. I mean, we could do somethin' fun together. I'm sure that we could do great goin' out somewhere."

"What are you talking about?!" Ukyo snapped, unable to come up with an understandable path in the conversation.

"What, you can't tell?"

"Tell what?"

"It seems that my dear uncle has suggested that the two of you go out," the middle Tendo sister drawled. "He suggested that the two of you go on a date."

"A date?! But I want to bash his father's head in!"

Ranma cocked his head at his childhood friend. "So?"

"You don't have a problem with that?!"

"Not particularly. I wanna do that a lot too."

"He kinds of needs it," Ranko muttered.

Akane took an exaggerated sniff. "Almost asks for it."

"Doesn't particularly seem like a problem," Nabiki put in.

"Oh dear," Kasumi murmured, and sent a hopeful look towards their visitor. "Just be mindful of the furniture."

"Saotome should able to take it," Soun stated.

"He deserves it," Nodoka observed.

This lack of support rather bothered the panda in question, who was looking wildly between the faces of his family and wondered where the concern for him had gone.

Gazing uncertainly over the combined Saotome-Tendo family, Ukyo seemed to be trying to get her bearings, while:
