"And that’s when I decided to call ya.”
“Very well, Wolverine. I’ll use Cerebra to scan these two. What are they doing?”
“As far as I know, Hotaru’s still asleep. Ranma’s keeping an eye on her.”
“Understood. I’ll contact you, via telepathy, as soon as I finish.”
“Right. Talk to ya later, Chuck.” Click!

In a chamber deep beneath the surface…
The room was large and roughly spherical, with the walls being covered in metallic plates. On one side of the room was a circular doorway, currently closed. From that doorway, a bridge extended, leading to a small platform in the center of the room. On this platform were two objects: A computer, and a chair.
The computer was nothing special, at least, not in terms of appearance. The chair, on the other hand, was hovering about a foot off the ground and was occupied by a bald man in a suit.
Using Cerebra, Professor Charles Francis Xavier scanned the country of Japan for two teenagers who may possibly be mutants.
The boy, Ranma, should at least be inspected. Acidic blood is, if nothing else, evidence enough to warrant it. And while Logan hadn’t seen the girl’s abilities, Ranma had mentioned that Hotaru had the power to heal wounds with a touch.
Finally, he found them. Looking them over, Prof. X decided to enter the girl’s mind first.
---
Within Hotaru’s mind, Prof. X discovered that she did indeed have mutant abilities. However, instead of just the one he’d been told about, there were two. The two were connected but seemed to have opposing attributes, almost like the two sides of a coin.
The first was the healing ability mentioned by Logan. It wasn’t nearly up to par with his, but since it could be used on others it was useful none the less.
Upon closer inspection, the good Professor realized that the power was largely being suppressed. It was more potent than it appeared, but judging from the signs, that potency was deliberately being blocked. By what, he had no idea.
Prof. X observed the other power. As he suspected, this side dealt with the powers of death and destruction. Unlike the healing side however, this part was completely dormant.
“How peculiar…” He thought. Of course, it was probably fortunate that this power was not active. He shuddered to think of what could happen if this power was left uncontrolled.
Having seen everything he’d had come to see, Prof. X prepared to move on to Ranma's mind.
