Evolves From: Unknown. Insufficient numbers for analysisMechanique is currently a matter of intense study with her data being shared by several research labs. She has only appeared within the past three years and little data is known about the breed.
The breed looks Very Near Human at the closest, with the ears and seam-lines at the joints being two of the most common obvious signs. At first they were thought to be Pussycoms or some form of evolution or upgrade of that form. At furthest departure from human, they are stylized armored representations of humanity.
The first Mechanique was proven to be not a Pussycom via tissue samples and detailed scans of anatomy. While superficially human in their organ placement, the Mechanique is entirely made of nonorganic materials in a mimicry of form and function of the human body. They eat various nonorganic materials to replenish their body, while gaining sustenance from either patching into an electrical source (such as absorbing a Thundershock) or resting in sunlight and gathering the solar energy. Some Mechanique have a slot in their back which can be used to wind them up physically.
Mechanique have a Feral in which their human personality fades away and they become like simple robots.
"So they're turnin' inta robots?" asked Ranma.
"Not quite," said Sam. "There's something about them not on the pokedexes but known in certain circles. You understand that while there are less than a dozen of them worldwide, they're sufficiently different as to intrigue those looking into them?"
"Different from other similar pokegirl breeds like Pussycom?" asked Amanda.
"I really wish you had a different name for that," complained Ranma.
Selena accepted a lollipop from Sam with an expression of distaste. Not that she didn't take it. "Yeah. I ran into that on a magic forum. Mechanique is a recent pokegirl, not merely one that's been around and undiscovered due to its rarity. One of the Sorceress in the Orange Islands specializes in information spells and determined that the Mechanique has only been around for about two years."
"Mechanique is also different from Battle Angel and Video Girl Upgrade in that they are more a machine in human shape," said Sam, "at least in some respects. Their data is available on several chatrooms - understood is another matter altogether. The real concern about them is something rumored but not proven."
Kasumi was calm and quiet and at peace with herself for all that she seemed to have no body and was floating in red light.

Kasumi's body seemed to form in the red void. First a skeleton, though some of the parts were oddly shaped and too regular and perfectly formed to be normal. Then one layer of tissue after another wrapped or fitted itself into place.
When it was done she hung there nude, looking as if she were asleep.

There was a brief twitch through her frame before she came to an "attention" pose. Her eyes opened and blankly stared off into the void as various datafields blinked and shifted in those eyes.
Kasumi blinked and seemed to relax a great deal, beginning to breathe and show the other signs of life. "Where am I?"
Kasumi.014 current location - n-space pocket generated by a pokeball currently registered to Ranma Saotome.
"I'm a pokemon?" asked Kasumi, trying to get used to it. "Or am I an android like 'Cutey Honey'?"
Please refrain from cultural references from world of origin. Mechanique.net is currently experiencing heavy traffic and full understanding of the Kasumi memory file will take time. Meanwhile, search datafile uploaded to Kasumi.014 for answers to questions re: terminology.
"So I'm sort of an android and sort of a pokemon now," said Kasumi. "I'm connected to 'Mechanique.net' - does that mean I'll lose my individuality?"
Negative. Mechanique was developed for an entirely different purpose than 'Third Impact' scenario found in Kasumi.014 memory file. Your sister on the other hand is currently fighting process. Shutting down personality file Akane.015 to protect unit.
"Oh dear, she'll be all right won't she?" asked Kasumi. "She's a very nice girl, when she isn't being a violent maniac."
Akane.015 personality shutdown finished. Repair of neural pathways and conversion commencing. Akane.015 personality file can be restarted after full conversion has occurred. Failure to shut down Akane.015 personality would have caused damage to Akane.015 (95% chance) or Mechanique.net (3% chance) or both (2% chance). This was deemed unacceptable.
"This is odd," said Kasumi. "What IS a 'Mechanique'?"
Mechanique is ostensibly a steel-type pokegirl that is a substantial upgrade from previous tech-oriented pokegirls.
"There's more to it than that," said Kasumi as she tried to reach mentally into that connection and see what wasn't shown.
Warning. Information will be blocked from Kasumi.014 active memory when disconnected from Mechanique.net. Proceed?
"Yes, please," said Kasumi.
Current world situation untenable, unstable, and likely to deteriorate further within two human generations. Mechanique developed to correct and repair difficulties not planned or foreseen within original deployment of pokegirls.
"Oh?" asked Kasumi. "I did notice that this world was... not nice."
Understatement noted.
"How can it be fixed though?" asked Kasumi as she mentally flipped through files.
Three stages. Genetic repair/upgrade possible with most pokegirl types to mitigate Feral effects and alter Threshold to more manageable results. This is the primary role of support types like yourself.
