Nothing But Rivals: It's Wartime on the Battlefield and In the Heart! Part 2 [Episode 208388]

by Takun Uzumaki

Ranma readied himself for Kuno's assault, but it never came. Instead, he saw his head peeking out from the opening in the door, gawking at Hikari like he just saw an alien or something.

"...Tsuhou... Hikari...?" Kuno managed to squeak out. "...Is it really you...?" Ranma by this time was very confused. What did Kuno want from him? And did he know Hikari before?

"...Wait a second... Kuno Tatewaki?" Hikari slowly said, looking to Kuno. Ranma looked between the two, wondering how the two knew each other.

"Yes, yes, it is I! Kuno Tatewaki, the Blue Thunder of Furinkan High!" said Kuno as he completely entered the room. Ranma just stared on in annoyance.

"All right, Kuno, mind tellin' me what the heck it is you're doin' in my room?!" Ranma yelled, his frustration releasing itself. The two looked to Ranma, who was still sitting on his bedsheets, wrapped in bandages from nearly head to toe.

"...Hold on a minute... Saotome... Did you...?" Kuno said. Ranma simply glared at him before Kuno burst into laughter. "The mighty Saotome Ranma has finally fallen!... But wait... It was not I who did such a thing... Tell me, Saotome, who did it to you so that I may smite them with my mighty sword?!" Sighing, Ranma motioned to Hikari. Kuno then looked to her in awe and amazement.

"...Wait a minute... Hikari... you...?" Kuno said in disbelief. Hikari nodded slowly as Kuno looked between the two. "So... Hikari... defeated Saotome... Who I could never defeat?" Shrugging, Ranma nodded also, as Kuno looked back to Hikari in sheer disbelief.

"...Hikari, when did you become so powerful?!" Kuno said, shouting his question with glee. "Why, when we were younger I used to best you all the time!"

"That's not important right now, Tatewaki-san," said Hikari. "Right now I have to take Ranma-kun to the doctor's to get treated." Kuno looked at her oddly, but then sighed and and moved towards the door.

"Very well, Hikari, I shalt not stand in your way," Kuno said. "I shall save my question for when Saotome is treated, although it is to my great disdain." He then proceeded to leave as Hikari looked back to Ranma.

"So, Ranma-kun, what did you want me to do?" she asked him. Ranma looked back to Hikari, then remembered his request.

"Oh yeah, could you get some cold water for me?" he asked. Shrugging, not once questioning why, she filled a bucket with cold water and gave it to him.

"Thanks," he said as he poured the contents of the bucket over his head. "There, now I'm good to go."

"...Ranma?" said Hikari. Ranma had been expecting her to react this way; she probably wouldn't know of his Jusenkyou Curse, so he thought she'd be a bit shocked to see him in his female form.

"I know, I know, I have some explaining to-" Ranma began to say, but then Hikari interrupted him.

"Why did you need to change into your girl state?" she asked. Girl-type Ranma simply stared at her, confused. How does she know about my curse? he wondered.

"...Wait a minute. You knew?" he asked.

"Well yeah, Akane's been writing to me ever since I left Furinkan," she said. "She told me about when you got here and about your curse, and about how you're such a jerk..."

"All right, all right, I get it, I get it," he said. "Anyways, it's a little embarassing for a guy to be seen on someone's back, let alone a girl's, so... it'll be easier on me if I'm a girl."

"You didn't have any problem with it earlier," said Hikari. Ranma sighed, then spoke.

"Well, I didn't exactly have much of a choice back then," he said. "Plus, there are more people around after school lets out, so there's more chance of me being seen like that." Hikari nodded, apparently understanding what he was talking about. Sighing, Ranma motioned for her to pick him up, and she did so, walking downstairs with him on her back. As she opened the door, they saw Akane waiting outside.

"Oh, hey there Akane-chan!" said Hikari. "How are you? I haven't seen you in so long!" Akane smiled and nodded, but then looked to Ranma.

"...What are you two doing?" Akane asked. Ranma looked away, embarassed about this scene with Hikari.

"Oh, I'm just taking Ranma-kun to Dr. Tofuu's to get help," said Hikari. Akane nodded again and looked to the gate.

"I'll come too, I've got a few things I need to drop off at Dr. Tofuu's," she said. Ranma couldn't help but think about how mad he was at Akane for ruining his alone time with Hikari, but then stopped to think to himself in shock; Had he really just thought that? He hoped he wasn't doing what he thought he was - falling in love.

"All right," said Hikari. "I've got things to do after I drop Ranma-kun off, so maybe you can stay there with him for a while, huh?" Ranma's heart was crushed even more, knowing Hikari wouldn't even be around, let alone the fact that it was old uncute, short-tempered, bull-headed Akane he'd be stuck with. But he didn't want to complain; he didn't want Hikari to know about his newly-discovered feelings. So he just went along with it, and after letting Dr. Tofuu patch him up, layed in bed with Akane nearby. But suddenly, someone came running in to Ranma's room...
