Unfortunately, any fear he might have had from Western horror movies was as nothing compared to the fear of his chain-of-command and the Old Men from Beijing. Setting up camp inside the place without direct permission could end up with them finding an even worse place to put him.
Like with his crazy sister.
"Have you explored it at all?" asked Zuko of the Specialist.
"Just the first few rooms," admitted the Specialist. Xao made a sweeping gesture at the place. "Near as I can tell, it's empty. What's especially curious is that there are no decorations or writing as near as I can tell. Whether it's a tomb, a shelter, or just about any other purpose - I'd expect something to mark it."
"Why are all the walls leaning like that?" asked Zuko, tapping one of the walls in question. It looked like none of the external walls were straight up and down - each had the same angle.
"Well, I'd imagine it's because the storms around here are freaking huge," said Xao. "Even if the walls are two point four meters thick - they wouldn't last forever against those."
"Point taken," admitted Zuko, having thought something like that himself. Always nice when the expert confirmed something you'd come up with. "Why haven't the bugs taken over the place?"
"Oh, they have," said Xao, waving it off. "It's just that it's dry inside and the air doesn't circulate as much. A few soldiers with flamethrowers and we could clear everything out of a room and move in."
"Wait for permission from above," advised Zuko. "You'll live longer."
"If one of those scorpions get ahold of me, that wouldn't be an option," said Xao.
The technician checked the figures twice before turning to where the General was. "Gate 3 is slowing. It's sticking to where we thought it would. Looks like it'll end up in:"
