"That should be enough time for us to get to know each other without any additional stress being involved," said Elle with a shrug as she got out her reference materials. "I'm rather looking forward to seeing more of your world, and I hope that Ranma can spare some time to that regard."
"What's with all the manga?" asked Nabiki.
"Reference materials to give me more details of your culture and lifestyle," said Elle, reading the blurb on the back of the "Ai Yori Aoshi" with a slight frown.
"Ah hah," said Nabiki, seeing how this could get completely bizarre. "And there's no way any of us could extend our lives to cut you off there?"
Elle frowned and seemed to examine Nabiki as if suddenly discovering a venomous spider where she hadn't noticed one previously. "Why are you being so hostile?"
"Don't know the answer, eh?" asked Nabiki, trying to nudge the elfgirl into revealing secrets she could sell for big bucks.
Elle continued to look at Nabiki for a moment, then shrugged and went back to her manga.
"Errr, is there a way?" asked Ranma.
There were a few seconds in which the elfin woman regarded the elfin man, quite obviously weighing something in her mind. "Yes," said Elle, letting her head droop for a moment. "Though if it were to be done it would have to be done within the next two days at the latest."
The ceiling creaked as if several hidden individuals were listening with all due intensity.
"Why are you so reluctant to say, afraid of something?" asked Nabiki.
"Reluctant to disturb a hornet's nest doesn't mean being afraid," said Elle drily.
"Ah," said Kasumi. "Ranma. The effect was viral."
Elle blinked at Kasumi now, trying to figure out how someone who seemed so out-of-it had come to that conclusion so quickly. "Ahhh."
"Viral? He's contagious?!" asked Akane, drawing back from the table a little.
"Ranma being transformed full time into an elf would affect him on the genetic level, and right now the transformation is still active," concluded Kasumi, settling her teacup down. "So it would be possible to 'catch' the residual effects and be transformed into an elf."
Soun and Genma both pulled large knives from somewhere. "So we just need some of his blood!"
"THAT is thoroughly creepy," said Elle, eyeing the two and considering drawing weapons and charging into the defense of her fiance. "Why would you think blood?"
"Well, isn't that the usual thing to do with magic?" asked Soun. "Virgin sacrifices and blood?"
"Daddy, if you kill Ranma to drain his blood in order to turn Akane into an elf, doesn't that pretty much also end the engagement as well?" pointed out Nabiki.
"Oh right," said Soun. "Well, then Ranma will just have to bite Akane and turn her into an elf."
"That's werewolves and vampires," said Kasumi, apparently deep in thought as she inspected the inside of her teacup.
"Errr, sharing a needle?" asked Soun.
"Hepatitis and a few other diseases of that nature," answered Kasumi, still in deep thought. "It would have affected his DNA..."
"Oh. My." said Nabiki her own eyes wide. "DNA. How does DNA normally get transmitted?"
"This is NOT going to turn out well," said Elle, shaking her head.
"What's everyone talking about?" asked Ranma.
"Nothing," said a flustered Elle, a diabolic-looking Soun, a thoughtful Genma, a blushing Akane, a contemplative Kasumi, a greedy Nabiki, and at least three female voices from the general area of the roof.
"Okay, NOW I'm getting scared," said Ranma.
