"I'm still trying to get used to the extra colors and stuff," admitted Ranma. "And what's with the not-blue stuff in the backyard?"
The humans looked out, seeing nothing abnormal there much less something 'not-blue' where Ranma was pointing.
"That's a leyline," said Elle. "Chaos magic. Magic works different here than what I'm used to, but I know that much."
"Oh," said Ranma. "That kind of makes sense."
"You can see magic?" asked Nabiki, thinking that if Ranma had been able to do that years ago - how much easier his life could have gone. Oddly enough the same thought had occurred to several others present.
"He can see it, eventually tap into it, and channel it to his own uses," said Elle.
"Oh, you can do that as well?" asked Kasumi, still looking distracted.
"Eventually," agreed Elle, turning back to her manga. "Magic works differently here than in my universe-of-origin so I have to experiment around with it a bit."
"Which is why you're reading "Aoi Yori Aoshi' at the table," said Nabiki, still distracted by all the pretty yen signs dancing through her head.
"Trying to read," corrected Elle. "While I received a spell that allowed to me to learn the area languages at high speed - there are many aspects of this world and its culture I do not understand."
"I don't believe in faeries," tried Nabiki. "I don't believe in elves."
"Eh?" asked Elle, glancing up and wondering what that was about.
"Well, you didn't suddenly die, so that didn't work," said Nabiki, musing over the concept.
"...that was an attempt to kill me?" asked a genuinely annoyed now Elle.
"Hmmmm," said Nabiki, getting a rising feeling of personal danger and wanting to change the subject. "So, any other things that seem different to you, Ranma?"
"Yeah," said Ranma.
