With that, Ranma lifted his legs up off the floor and folded them in front of him lotus-style. All the while holding a cupcake in one hand and nibbling at it. Not scarfing it in one bite, but actually taking small thoughtful nibbles at it. "Things kinda taste differently."
"Really? How so?" asked Elle. "I lack time as a human to compare."
"Have you tried these?" asked Ranma, handing off the bag of peanut butter cupcakes.
Elle sniffed at it, then followed her fiance's example with a nibble. Her expression of astonished pleasure was enough for Nabiki to snatch the bag and check it out herself.
"It's good but not THAT good," remarked Nabiki just a moment before Genma snatched the bag from HER and proceeded to finish off the remainder.
Then he made a mistake. A small mistake perhaps. He attempted to steal the half-a-cupcake still in Elle's hands. How was he to know about elven reflexes, elven hand-eye coordination, and that she could produce a length of naked razor-sharp steel in less than the blink of an eye?
"Urk!" said Genma, feeling something sharp and pointy up against his throat.
"MY cake," said Elle.
"My mistake," said Genma, backing off. Okay, she was a martial artist at least.
"Nice sword," said Nabiki, eyeing the longsword and deciding not to steal any more pastries from the nice elf. She hadn't even seen the elf move her hands.
Ranma just continued to sit there in midair, thoughtfully nibbling at his cupcake.
"That was the bakery we stopped at on the way," said Elle as she dismissed the sword and guarded her cake. "I shall have to investigate them a bit further."
"How did you pay for cupcakes, Saotome? I happen to know you're broke," asked Nabiki.
"I paid for it," said Elle. "I have access to some Waterdhavian coinage. I thought these were horrifically expensive but I can see now why."
"A bakery accepting foreign currency?" asked Nabiki, getting a feeling she was on the trail of something useful.
"An entire gold piece for a bag of such treasures," said Elle. "Truly fascinating. Tell me, my fiance, are there other such wonders of your land?"
"Uhm, I don't know," said Ranma. "I've GOT to try ice cream though."
"gold?" asked Nabiki.
"Very well," said Elle. "Tomorrow we shall find a store that sells this 'ice cream' to determine its' suitability."
"gold?" asked Nabiki.
"HEY NOW!" said Akane, seeing a date being made in front of her.
"what about the gold?" asked Nabiki.
"Oh, yes, if you wish to come you're quite welcome to, Akane," said Elle. "It might make for a pleasant avenue for conversation. By then hopefully I will have been able to learn something more of your culture and customs."
Nabiki stretched a little bit, tabling the 'gold' discussion until she had a chance to go through the elf's packs. Waiting until the elf was OUT of sword-swinging range before turning her attention to such investigations. Nabiki looked at the other titles in Elle's collection. "By reading 'Tenchi Muyo' and 'Wedding Peach'?"
