"Oh yes," said the old man. "I've followed the development of neogirls quite closely. There you go child!"
"This tickle," said Shampoo as she tried to twist her body around so that she could look at the base of her spine. She was flexible but not THAT flexible.
"All neogirls have a manufactory mark there," said the old man. "Ah reminds me of how I made my first fortune."
"Huh," said Ranma. "So what's that mean?"
"It marks her as being manufactured in the Nerima Japan Facility, which is the one that Nodoka Saotome works at," said the old man. "This symbol marks her as being an early test model. Over here, this symbol is the one used to denote archetype."
"So how did you make your 'first fortune'?" asked Genma, curious.
"Forging records and manufacturing documentation," said the old man. "Ah, the many happy memories."
"So why did you stop?" asked Genma, thinking that sounded like a good income.
"You get too successful at something like that, the government starts taking notice of you," said the old man as Shampoo pulled her shirt back down all the way. "Governments don't, as a rule, like competition. Do a quality product cheaper than they do - and they get all pissy."
"So Shampoo is now 'neogirl' pet?" asked the Chinese girl. This gave her certain protections and meant that she'd be able to leave the area after all.
"Yes," said the old man, looking over the various neogirls associated with Ranma and heaving a deep sigh. "Ah, to be that young again."
"So why help us?" asked Genma.
"Keeping in practice," said the old man. "Besides, this gives me the chance to shaft the Chinese government. Sometimes you've just got to go with the principal of the thing."
He'd come to China with Ranma because he WAS Ranma's chief rival.
Unfortunately, he'd gone to the restroom and when he'd come out - someone had moved the village!
Ryoga Hibiki sighed as he pictured his neogirls waiting for him back home. Maybe leaving them behind hadn't been his best idea. Even though there HAD been rumors about the Chinese seizing neogirls and confiscating them.
Fortunately he'd found a place he could stop for directions at.
