"So... this is good?" asked Ranma, still wondering about it.
"Oh yes, you know how long it takes us to rest and recharge," said Kohran. "This will speed things up. If we get injured it'll speed THAT up too."
"OK," said Ranma, still a little unclear on the whole put-a-girl-in-a-softball-sized-ball thing being somehow a good thing.
"When a pokeball is docked here into this mechanism," said Kohran, pointing things out to Ranma and Ukyo (who WAS currently most likely to be Ranma's human partner) it acts as a minor pokecenter and allows us to heal faster. If we're ever injured badly, just putting us in a pokeball would keep us alive until we can be docked with the mobile pokecenter."
"How can you build a pokecenter the size of a shoebox?" asked Kanna.
"Well, it's not a full pokecenter," admitted Kohran. "It's just a repair machine. I had to keep it portable after all."
"Isn't that an old Famicom Portable?" asked one of the more nerdish boys in the crowd.
"Yes, I used one for the display and video controls," said Kohran, her tail curling around her in an unconscious defensive gesture. "See, this is how you use this."

"How'd you manage to build this?" asked Kanna.
"Iris helped," admitted Kohran. "Her mental powers allowed me to access the data grid in our universe of origin. One of the reasons she's been more exhausted than usual lately."
The little blonde pokegirl gave a sleepy thumb's up.
"Now, if you'll just let our troublesome little Vixxen out," said Kohran, as she handed the pokeball to Ranma.
"Err, how do I do that?" asked Ranma, now wondering if other problems could be stuffed inside a little ball.
Kohran considered for a moment having the traditional call-out phrase, but that might encourage Sumire to do something naughty. Better not. "Just give it a light toss and call out 'Vixxen, I choose you.'"
"Vixxen, I choose you?" asked Ranma, tossing the ball up.
"A LIGHT toss," suggested Kohran as the orb rocketed upwards fairly high. As usual, at the apex of the toss there was a flash of light that reconstituted a pokegirl.
"AGHHHHHH!" yelled Sumire as her arms and legs started flailing around.
"Oh," said Ranma, now getting that part.
THWAM!
"...you jackass..." summed up a slightly-flattened and dazed Ukyo from underneath a swirly-eyed Sumire.
"Uhm, sorry," summed up Ranma.
As the two gathered themselves up, both acting at least fairly sore from their meeting, there was a brief moment before:
