"I'm listening," the Commander of NERV murmured, looking cooly at the images displayed on the screens.
"That's is welcome news," commented the bald man on the screen. "We would prefer to be able to settle this issue in a peaceful manner."
"Interesting, considering the fact that you attacked first."
"We did not come looking for a fight."
The man in the armor shown on the other screen nodded. "I don't know about our other friend, but my group here came in response to an attack where we came from."
"And you think that gives you the right to attack here?" Gendo asked simply.
"Considering the fact that the trail led here, there was reason to be... on our guard."
"Well, seeing as we haven't been doing anything that should interest you, I fail to see how your problem came to us."
"Then you aren't going to take responsibility for kidnapping all those women?" the armored man asked.
That got the top two men in NERV looking at each other.
"What?"
"Take a look at our current status," Fuyutsuki asked them. "Do you see much in the way of women here?"
A thoughtful look came onto the bald man's face. "Now that you mention it, it seems that you don't have much of a female presence."
"Our heads of operations and research are women, and we are missing several other rather important... girls."
"They're a stepping stone," the armored man muttered.
"Perhaps a decoy as well," the bald man sighed. "Likely to keep us off balance while giving our quarry the time to do what they want."
As he considered the turn in the discussion, Gendo found that he had to agree. More than likely, NERV had been used to keep these... people busy. Since that was the case, it'd likely be better to stop the fighting, as they wouldn't be looking to demolish his base. Of course, he wasn't sure about their reactions to other... things in the Geofront, so he didn't see any reason to educate them on that sort of thing at the moment. Given that he wasn't looking to even explain such matters to his own staff, there was little reason to do so with these odd newcomers.
"So, as I see it, we have much to discuss," Gendo told them both, folding his hands in front of himself and smirking slightly, while:
