Son of Odin: The Punishment [Episode 212806]

by Psyckosama

Many years ago, across the Bifrost Bridge, in Valhalla, Odin, the All-Father, punished his son, Thor, for a transgression. Over the span of centuries, Thor had grown callous and arrogant, overly sure of his own abilities and unsympathetic to the plight of those less capable than he. In order to remind his son of honor and humility, Odin stripped him of his divinity and sealed it into his hammer, Mjolnir, and cast Thor from Asgard to Midgard so he may live as a mortal and understand their strength and pain.

He did not just banish his son to walk the Earth as an angry god, stripped of his power, rather he sealed his memories and implanted his essence into an unborn child so that he may truly live as a mortal, to truly understand what it was to be human and through this understanding learn sympathy for those weaker than it. And it was such that nine months later, a baby was born who by all appearances was but a mortal child, but who's spirit concealed the essence of the thunder god.

It was as thus that Odin watched his son grow as he bravely faced the trials and tribulations of his mortal life, often challenged by never vanquished. Many a time, he was tempted to intervene on Thor's behalf, to give him aid during his most desperate moments, but he relented time and time again. Thor had been sent to Earth in order to learn what it was to be a mortal, and he could not learn that if Odin shielded him from the horrors of mortal existence, as any true father would naturally desire to.

But while Odin did desire for him to learn humility, he also wished only the best for his son, and it was as such, that when Thor, in his new life, was about to face his greatest challenge, he finally relented. Thor, he believed, had learned well enough, and it was time for him to rediscover his true self. He did not wish to just restore his power though, oh no. He did not wish for the hero he'd become, nor the lessens he'd learned to be simply swept away by the powers and long memory. He would not kill the mortal to resurrect the god.

Thor would regain his memories over a span of months, if not years, and when not using his powers he would return to his mortal form. In time, the restrictions would be removed, but until that day, his heir would live a double life... one as a mortal human, the other as the the mightiest of the Aesir, Thor, the God of Thunder.

Within that in mind, in his sons moment of need, that Odin cast Mjolnir from Rainbow Bridge, down to Midgard, and using his power, bid that his son find the mighty hammer, and regain his true form and power. And it was thus that our unwitting hero was drawn to the hammer, which had landed in a location and position quite convenient when put in context with his current troubles.

The question though, was whom exactly had Thor been reincarnated as?
