Son of Odin: A Thundering Moon [Episode 212994]

by CrystalBlaze

Asgard, Odin's Throne Hall:

Odin heaved a heavy sigh as it was accomplished. He'd had no idea it would come to this, although, given the warriors in this saga, he might have suspected. It had taken all he had by way of patience to see it out, especially when the attacks began. For a time the blind hero worship shown to his son, his child's rescuer had worried the All-father that the lessons were not being learned, but that had proven to not be the case. When the relationship began to form, Odin had really gotten worried, mostly from a fervent desire to not lose his other eye to apoplectic headaches once Sif caught wind of it. Fortunately, news of just how the bride of the Thunderer got access to the Norn Stones put his mind at ease. Now, only one step remained, as a cap and sop to the pains life had cast Thor's way.

"Daughter!", bellowed the Lord of Asgard, "Appear before me, for a reckoning is nigh!" Immediately on the command's echoes a flare of light heralded a imposing figure, her pose on one knee notwithstanding. Clad in less armor than most of the Daughters of Battle, the head of the Valkyrior still projected the steady deadliness of a seasoned warrior. This was appropriate, for that is what she was.

Brunnhilde inquired, "Father, you have summoned me with greater intent than in many a year. Have you a mission outside the realm for your Valkyrie?"

Odin smiled a bit grimly. "Indeed, your wit serves you well, my daughter. Know you that in misty ages past, I had tried to rein in my son, Thor, giving him life as a mortal, with the added goal of adding a small degree of the Aesir blood to mortal man. This did not work as I had hoped, as the lives of mortal slayers and reavers among the people that worshipped us were too like unto his own life. You may have been reminded of the terrible results by the eye I did pluck out as penance and sacrifice for wisdom, as it is a skald in the realm in this time. This shies from the point, however. Wanting to bring an end to the problem, I did cast him into a new life, one as unlike a slayer or a reaver as could be found that would teach my child in wise ways. This has succeeded at last. You are not to appear before my child, but to go to the place of Thor's return to power. Once there, you will know your duty."

Brunnhilde stood, nodding, "Thy will shall be served, All-father." She hesitated. "Do you not fear my falling afoul of affection for the Thunderer? If the Eye is to be believed, that is a grave flaw in my nature."

Odin gestured for Brunnhilde to move along, prompting her to do so. After she was gone, the head of the Aesir sighed, "No, child, I do not foresee any such difficulties this time." He chuckled ruefully at the horrid wonder yet to unfold.

Midgard, A Park In Azazu-Juuban:

Osaka Naru was living a nightmare. She and her boyfriend, Sanjounin Masato, had grown closer over time, and they had been together when yet another attack from the Dark Kingdom had interfered in her life. This time, however, the results were nothing to ignore. Before Sailor Moon could come along, her boyfriend had pursued her kidnapper, revealing himself as another of the Dark generals that had wrought chaos in Tokyo. Rather than join his ally, however, Masato had fought to defend her, taking a lethal blow to save her life. As Sailor Moon and the Senshi appeared and began to battle the effeminate but murderous monster responsible for this, Masato jerked and coughed out the remainder of his life in her arms. The crying Naru didn't dare interrupt what she knew to be his final words. She had no words in any case.

"Y-you'll be all right," he gasped out. "I'm so glad. Worth it. Worth it all. I-i love--" With a final spasm, Masato went still and dissolved into a dust which floated off in the breeze, sparkling like stars before it faded from sight.

Naru finally found her voice. As the man she had loved disappeared, she screamed, "NNOOOOOOOO!!", dashing her fist down onto the ground in preparation for a suicidal rush at Zoisite. That motion slammed a charm Masato had bought her from the Osa-P against the ground, provoking a unexpected event. Thunder crashed as a lightning bolt came from the clear skies to seemingly immolate the Japanese girl. As the shocked cries of the Senshi faded, Zoisite's smirk went with them as he beheld the resulting vision.

Standing at six feet and three inches, the blonde woman glowered at him with eyes promising death. Clad in a winged visor to protect the sides of her head, Asgardian style thigh high boots and past the elbow gloves, a crimson cloak, and a belted armored leotard with sufficient opening down the front to ensure anyone not legally blind would know her as female, she clenched a thonged hammer with a trailing axe blade, the whole of which crackled with lightning.

She screamed again, but this wordless howl expressed fury as well as sorrow. She then announced, "Thou hast slain the man I loved! Shadowed as his past had been, he was a good man! Face the wrath of Thor, base villain! HAVE AT THEE! " With that, the Goddess Osaka Naru had become literally hurled herself at Zoisite hammer first.

On The Threshhold:

In the midst of all this, unseen by any participant, a shorter blonde in armor had her hand on a tall brown-haired bishonen's shoulder as they watched the drama unfold.

"Peace, warrior," Brunnhilde told him, "Your love is safe, and now comes into her own at long last. Her struggles are just now beginning, but I know full well she has the power and courage to weather the storm. Such is the power of Thor. Worry not, for you shall see her again as she grows back into her full glory."

As she led him away, the valkyrie told Nephrite, "You are redeemed. You shall await her in Valhalla."
