Itachi had waited until after Mr. Evans had left the room and the nurses had turned down the lights to appear. Standing by the bed, Itachi gently ran his hand across the top of his lover's hair. He then walked over to the bassinet and gently picked Lily up and held her close. As Itachi was holding his daughter, Mrs. Evans opened her eyes and softly said, "What do you think of our daughter Lily?"
Looking his lover in the eye, Itachi replied, "She is, wonderful. I know that she'll grow up to be as beautiful as you, and as powerful as I am."
There was a hint of sadness that slipped through Itachi's control as he held his daughter. Mrs. Evans picked up on it and mournfully said, "You're going to leave me aren't you?"
Itachi bowed his head and replied, "I don't want to my dear Rose. My heart wants to stay here with you and Lily. However, my presence would only endanger you both. Madara would use Lily as a pawn in his bid to control my world. Sasuke might kill her in his bid for revenge."
After Rose had received Lily from Itachi she said, "I know that you're leaving is the safest thing for Lily, but I don't like it. Lily should know her father. Edmond is a good man, but he's not you. He won't be able to help Lily if her heritage awakens."
In a stoic manner Itachi replied, "Do not worry about the Sharingan. I have already hidden many scrolls in your house so that Lily will know about her heritage and the power she wields. I pray that she'll be able to bring the Uchiha clan to the glory that it could have been."
Rose gave Itachi one final kiss and said, "Don't worry dear. Lily will turn out just fine."
