"Serious money," answered Genma. "If they were true cyborgs. These are just people with a few implants."
"We could really use a medic-nin at times like this," mused Ranma.
"Oh yeah, like we could find one of THOSE," grumbled Genma. "Hmmm. Not well done."
"No, I'd imagine not," said Might Guy. "Hmmm. Microfractures in this guy's bones."
"Sorry," said Rock Lee.
"Oh no, not that, it's from the sonic weapons wrapped around the bones," said Might Guy. "No, where you hit him was quite distinctive."
"Doesn't leave much to interrogate," noted Genma.
"Sorry," repeated Rock Lee.
"Don't be," advised Ranma. "People trying to kill you, you can't always avoid casualties."
"Doesn't keep you from trying," grumbled Genma.
"Hey," said Ranma with a shrug.
"Well, these two are still alive," said Genma, stirring the remains of the campfire with a stick. "So maybe we can get some questions answered."
"We are Sound Ninja, we will give you NO answers," said the male of the two remaining enemy ninja.
"Pop, you know torturing these guys ain't gonna give us no answers," said Ranma.
"No?" asked Genma, holding up the now-burning stick.
"You can't fool us," said the male ninja. "You're just doing that 'bad cop, good cop' thing!"
"Hmph," said Genma after a moment, tossing the stick back into the firepit. "In that case, we'll have to use another method."
"DYNAMIC ENTRY!" said Might Guy, smashing a formerly-invisible ninja into the ground.
"That's all four," said Ranma with a nod. "Three alive."
"Well," said Might Guy. "Maybe we can get some... oh. Poison pill."
"Okayyy," said Ranma. "Back to two alive."
"You were saying about these being cyborgs?" asked Rock Lee as he considered the two remaining prisoners.
"Mechanisms enhancing them," said Ranma, examining them with eyes that seemed to glow blue. "Chi powered. Yeah. Pretty sure who'd come up with crap like that for his disposable minions."
"Orochimaru," said Genma with a nod.
"You know of him?" asked Might Guy.
"Yeah, we've heard all the rumors," said Genma. "Even run into a few examples of his various experiments."
"He'll experiment with anything if it will give him more power," said Might Guy. "Making new and dangerous jutsu, alchemy, sorcery, genetic engineering, necromancy, tattoo magic, cybernetics, combat drugs. Though mainly he sticks with ninjutsu."
"It's rumored he has one of the Saotome weapons," said Ranma. "That made it our business to follow up on."
"Which one?" asked Might Guy.
"Murakakumo-No-Tsurugi," answered Genma.
"That's BAD," replied Might Guy.
"Damn straight it's bad," replied Genma to Might Guy's reply.
"Isn't that 'Kusanagi'?" asked Rock Lee.
"No, you're thinking of the myth, this is a sword crafted by the Saotome weaponsmiths," answered Genma. "It is also known as 'Serpent's Sting' - and it is a blade of great though limited power presented to the Emperor Keiko."
"I see," said Rock Lee, incidently slamming his fist down on the male Sound Ninja's head after noting said ninja was still trying to untie his bonds. "If it is of great power, then that is why this person sought it in the first place."
"He once stated he would destroy the Leaf Village," said Might Guy. "Now I know who to blame for its fall."
