"Damn, Pop. What's the hurry?" Ranma complained.
"I'd kind of like to move in before the house falls down, boy."
"Yeah, yeah. It's not like we have a lot ta take with us though."
The Saotome patriarch snorted at his son. "Shows what you know, boy. We'll need to do things to make that place comfortable, and we won't know what to get until we get there."
Nabiki sighed, and looked fairly disappointed. "He does have a point there."
"See? She understands that I have a good idea with this."
"A small one. Everybody's entitled to one once in a while."
"Alright, already!" Genma growled, and turned away from his son and the slave. "We have to get to Nerima before the evening rush."
"'Nerima'?"
"Uh-huh. It's where the house stands. From what I understand, the place was just standing empty for years, sitting on plenty of valuable land. Seems that no one's lived there for all this time, and no one can legally claim it. So I got chance to buy it on cheap as soon as it got onto the market."
"And how did a prime place like this one get ta be owned by someone like ya?" Ranma asked.
"Silly question, Ranma. I just went and brought it after the legal issues were taken care of. The family that owned it did lose out, but that's my gain, right?"
A flat look passed over the pigtailed boy's face. "Ya really have no clue, d'ya?"
"Don't worry about it. That's for later. Right now, we have to catch a train."
Nabiki didn't even really complain as she was ushered into collecting her things and joining her Master and his father in walking out of the 'hostel' she'd been in. At other times, she might have had a quip or a dead on comment, but right now she wasn't in the mood for any of that.
She was from Nerima, having lived there as a child before she'd been taken into slavery. Her family had even had a dojo there, and it had been something of a nice property, from what she could remember of it. But it was more than likely made into some sort of apartment building, or something like that. Still, the idea of heading back to her old ward, and encountering what had only been a faded memory earlier was rather... daunting and exciting.
Then again, had Genma been able to tell her that he'd brought what had been the 'Tendo Dojo' until only just over a decade earlier, she might have been wondering about what sort of tricks fate was playing on her.
All that she could settle herself with though was the fact that she was likely going to be doing the management of the house and the dojo, while:
