"Isn't that what I just said?" the Saotome Patriarch told her, looking smug as he did so.
"You sure that you actually got it?"
"Of course I am!"
"This is a new one."
"Don't look at me," Ranma muttered, blowing out a breath. "The old man makes less sense as time goes on."
"True. So what do you think's really going on?"
"Maybe he's got some scheme goin' on," her Owner suggested.
"Not that it would work any better than most of his other plans. But, given his track record for wanting to keep us on the road, that fits."
"Doesn't it?"
"So much so that I'm surprised that you came up with it."
"Yeah, isn't that a... HEY!"
The slavegirl just grinned and patted him on the cheek. "Don't you worry, Master. I'm just admiring you.
Ranma's eyes narrowed, and it was clear from the sour expression on his face that he wasn't all that sure that he fully believed her.
Any retort that he might have given was lost when his father growled at both teenagers. "Listen here! I might have had some troubles before, but I know what I'm doing!"
She merely rolled her eyes. "Since when?"
"And ya've had more than 'some' problems," the pigtailed teen scoffed.
"I'll have the two of you know that I have a fully realized plan on all of this," Genma barked. "I've even registered it with all the proper authorities."
"That does make it a bit more believable," Nabiki admitted.
"How's that?" Ranma asked.
"Well, think about it. For him to do something like that, it has to be official."
"That's right...."
"But there's got to be a reason behind it...."
"Just so that you know, I'm doing this so that my son can have a dojo where he can not only train in the Art, but teach so that the school can continue," Genma muttered at the slavegirl.
"Ah!"
Ranma nodded in understanding. "Sounds like somethin' the old man'd come up with. Focuses on the Art and everythin'."
"And allows him to make you do more work."
"While he just sits there while I bring in tons of students."
"Something like that, Master."
He was about ready to fall over, but Genma struggled mightily to stay up straight, knowing that, no matter what a pair of wiseass kids might say, he had done well in buying the dojo:
