Nabiki smirked when she thought no one was looking. She'd found this neat little box in a sealed barrel full of water. When she got it open she was sure there would be some treasure inside. She'd managed to sneak it away and it was going to be HER treasure now.
Akane was reacting very differently, swearing she'd come back and master the difficult training! She'd show them all she could be just as strong and stuff as that boy could be!
Kasumi was reacting in a decidedly different manner from either. She watched the island recede into the distance understanding a little more of what was involved than either Nabiki or Akane.
She understood the conversation between her mother and father. That something important was going on here. Akane was four, Nabiki five, while Kasumi herself was an entire seven years old.
She didn't register a lot of what was being said by the two parents. She knew they all had school and would have to go back without too much time being missed. Still, there would be chances for them to come back and there were plans for returning in a few years during Golden Week or something.
Kasumi fell asleep and was not really aware of it when her mother gathered her up and tucked her into a cot belowdecks.
