Ranma flew out the opening into the villa’s central grotto, tumbled across the graveled path, until he threw out a leg an brought himself to an abrupt stop beside the pond. “Feh! Bring on, Old Man.”
“Ah, good morning, Son,” greeted Soun, unperturbed by having his guest tossed out into the morning light. “Training early, I see?”
“Yeah, I guess you could call it that,” Ranma muttered, then was hit by a ton of Genma.
“Bah!” rumbled the same. “Don’t let yourself get distracted, Fool Boy. Oh, ‘morning, Tendo!”
“Ahhaha! That reminds me of the good old days, training under Sargent Happosai.” Soun shivered suddenly, and looked around nervously. “Anyway, don’t wear yourself out before the morning classes.”
“Classes?” Ranma demanded, lifting his father over his head and launching him into a spinning toss.
“Well, this is a school for faerie craft, Ranma,” a bleary eyed Nabiki observed as she emerged onto the inner porch. “What did you think we did here? Hire out the hall for club meetings?”
“Well…” Ranma hesitated.
“No, no! Mister Saotome!” Kasumi cried angrily. “Put down that ornamental statue! How could you think of throwing it at your son? Here, use this iron pot instead.”
“Much obliged,” Genma apologised, then launched the proffered blunt implement at Ranma’s head; who caught it and tossed it back. They began to juggle when Kasumi added a kettle, a tenderising mallet, two saucepans, and several knives.
“Will you two take it out into the hall!” Akane complained, catching a stray skillet. “I swear! Are we going to have to go through this every morning? It’s bad enough when classes start.”
“What’s wrong with a little heavy training?” asked Ranma with a slightly irritating smirk, blocking a pot with a gust of wind.
“It’s not the training,” Akane growled back. “That’s not the problem here.”
“Then what is?”
Akane just huffed and stalked off to the dinning chamber.
