There were two reasons that Ranma hated about this stupid trip to China. The first, and most important, reason was the fact that he had to be away from Usagi. Ranma loved Usagi just as much as Hirashirama had loved Serenity and the thought of being away from her was abhorrent to him in any incarnation. That was also one of the reasons why the duo had married so young; they couldn't accept being apart and their combined lifetimes allowed them to make a mature decision about it.
The second reason Ranma hated the training trip was less romantic: he was sick and tired of putting up with Genma's stupidity. There was no point in going to China. A person could practice jumping on a training ground in Japan just as well as a person could do in China. Genma had simply run out of things to teach Ranma and had probably come up with the idea of the trip just to look like a wise sensei who knew about some rare martial arts secret.
Why Genma tried was beyond Ranma. His father already knew that he had become the better of the duo a while ago. This wasn't that hard since Ranma had Hirashirama's S-rank training and experience to fall back on. Genma was good for a martial artist, but he was a mid C rank at best for the Refugees's sense of power. Ranma had refused to use jutus or advanced Chakra manipulation against his father. There was no reason to let the old man know more about his abilities then was needed.
Ranma finally had enough about five miles out from Nerima. It had been two, nearly three months, since he had seen Usagi. That was nearly three months without hearing her voice, seeing her smile, holding her hand, or making love to her. All and all, it was a situation that needed to be corrected and corrected NOW. Ranma anxiously waited for a chance to leave Genma, and was halfway ready to just punch Genma into unconsciousness when an opening arrived. The microwave bean burritos that Genma had scarfed down half an hour ago apparently didn't agree with the senior Saotome.
Genma had the duo stop at a public restroom so he could take care of his problem and Ranma quickly took advantage of the situation. Ranma discreetly walked behind a row of bushes and created a shadow clone. He then cast a genjutsu over himself and took to the skyline, while his shadow clone waited for Genma to come out. By the time Genma realized that his son wasn't actually with him, which probably wouldn't be until the evening when the clone dissipated, Ranma would be in Usagi's arms making up for lost time.
