Slyfer could sense that there was another angel nearby and he snarled. That angel would be a threat to the people of the city as long as it was alive. In his booming divine voice, Slyfer called out, "ATTENTION YE CITIZENS OF THE THIRD TOKYO. ANOTHER ANGEL STILL REMAINS WITHIN THE PREMISES OF YOUR CITY. IT IS WITHIN THE SPHERE OF BEGINNINGS THAT IS BURIED NEAR THE CITY. FOR YOUR SAFETY I SHALL NOW UNEARTH AND KILL IT."
Instantly Gendo's face became white with horror. How would he be reunited with Yui if this Slyfer creature killed Lilith? He immediately ran to the com like a mad man and practically shouted out, "Kill that creature Third Child. It's a threat to the base's security!"
Shinji amazingly discovered his backbone and replied, "Get real! I'm not messing with that dragon. If you want to slay it then you get in this robot and fight it. There's no way I'm tangling with a creature that can shred an angel in one shot.”
Misato quickly added her two cents, “Sir shouldn’t we let this Slyfer defeat the angel it claims to sense? The Third Child doesn’t have the experience yet to handle an angel. It’s better tactically to let this creature slay the angel.”
All discussion ended when Slyfer flew over the Geofortress and unleashed his breath attack. The powerful beam of divine energy quickly cut through the Geofortress’s nearly impervious defenses like a hot knife through butter quickly revealing Lilith’s imprisoned form. Everyone in NERV who didn’t know about Lilith was shocked to see the bound angel and couldn’t believe that they had been working so closely to the very creature they had sworn to destroy.
Slyfer watched as Lilith slowly moved her head to look up at him and then he said, “FORGIVE ME, MOTHER OF ALL. YOUR PRESENCE IN THIS WORLD ENDANGERS YOUR CHILDREN.” Lilith nodded her head and stretched out her neck as if offering Slyfer a cleaner shot. With a tear in his eye, Slyfer powered up his attack and killed the Second Angel.
