With the Gates barely functioning, and showing a grainy and flickering picture that seemed to flick to other scenes - just trying to find out what was going on would be a major task.
More sand trickled from the Gate, sliding downhill and forming a pool behind her.
Had she been paying attention, she would have noticed an eye-shaped clump of sand form there.
Gaara continued to act like a psychotic older brother.
Actually though, he WAS a psychotic older brother. Just one that had relented ever so slightly.
His sister was of an age where finding a guy to be interested in was an expected activity. Finding one that SHE didn't scare off (as she'd been known to be a bit edgy herself) was difficult. Finding one that Gaara himself didn't intimidate was darn near impossible. Prior to the Tournament, he would have thought it entirely impossible.
So he listened to his sister grumble about how she'd thought one guy was cute, who had managed to get into a scuffle with her and actually got a decent hit in. That was only the second one she'd found who'd shown the kind of strength she could respect in a guy.
Gaara wasn't about to bring up the other one. He'd heard Temari going off about THAT guy before. How she'd challenged him to meet her outside the village gates. How she'd dressed for the occasion, snuck off, and waited for him to show up.
-and waited.
-and waited.
-and gone home after leaving a note just before sunrise.
Then she'd checked back every day, and four days later found the note missing. Still no sign of that boy.
Gaara could at least respect the Oath Of Vengeance she'd sworn if she ever ran into Ryoga Hibiki again. Though frankly he doubted the practicality about skinning him and making a cloak out of his hide.
It had been BECAUSE of that last debacle that he'd been so certain to chase off this latest one. Though later Kankuro had mentioned that getting into a new relationship might have finally gotten Temari OVER her desire to punish that previous potential paramour.
Hinata Hyuga had been overlooked for the most part all of her life.
Lacking Neji's level of talent and aggressiveness, Hanabi's drive and focus, and having a father who pretty much epitomized the whole 'tough clan head' image - she'd been relegated to the sidelines and background. The only real recognition she'd gotten previously was in her scholastic achievements. Romance was a genre of novels she'd read every so often, not something that she'd ever thought would enter HER life.
NOW though - she had a friend.
-and he was a BOY.
-and he was CUTE.
Hinata Hyuga was therefore smiling and practically floating as she found something for Makoto to wear.
"That was a pretty nasty attack your brother did," said Makoto Tendo.
"Oh, the 'Eroge Magazine, Sixteen Palms'?" asked Hinata. "Yes, he claims it is for when he needs to disable or distract opponents without hurting them. I suppose it might be useful for that. I think this will fit you."
"So, you know Ranma," said Makoto as she took the garments. The bra would never do, and the panties would probably be pretty tight. The kimono would be a bit short - but it SHOULD cover things.
Hinata blushed and her smile edged up a notch. "Unnn. Yes, we've met." It had been an unremarkable but bad day prior to that, now everything was happy and upbeat.
"You know what it is he was sent away from the village for?" asked Makoto as she dressed.
"Would that be the alien chakra inside him?" asked Hinata. "I don't know the details."
"'Alien chakra'?" asked Makoto, picturing chestbursters and little guys with big black eyes.
"It's something that isn't quite part of him, but it's been there for awhile," said Hinata.
Makoto stopped as she realized the bra was only a little tight, and couldn't help but eye the other girl's chest - mostly concealed by the sweatshirt she was wearing.
"S-something wrong?" asked Hinata.
"No, nothing," said Makoto quickly to cover her reaction.
Now she had to decide what to do.
