Setsuna's Ninja Village: The Kuno Hyuga Family [Episode 229262]

by Kestral

Neji Hyuga was known for being a sort of "prince" amongst the students of Furinkan. A bit of a pervert, perhaps, at least according to the rumormill. A prince nonetheless. Many a girl considered him handsome, skilled, cool, and other things. His grades were excellent and he came from a wealthy family.

His father, Hiashi Hyuga, was a stern disciplinarian. A taskmaster who was known for not having a sense of humor, was a strong believer in making people stronger through adversity, and had declared that as long as he was principal of Furinkan - that the school would be known for being one of the toughest juvie detention facilities ever. Never mind that it was actually a high school.

Neji's sister Hinata was of no consequence to anyone, inside her family or out. A disappointment. Weak. Meek. Completely lacking in the toughness required of the family.

Neji's cousin Hanabi was much less weak and worthless. However, as she was currently just ten years old, she wasn't at Furinkan.

Hinata attended Saint Hebereke's Academy For Kunoichi. Tsunade was the principal there.

There were the samurai rivals of course, but the less said about Furinkan's Rival Schools the better.

The Hyuga family were known as spymasters amongst other things in previous eras. That wasn't quite what they were now though.

"The report, sir," said Fu, holding up a single piece of paper. "Ranma Saotome is back in town."

"Saotome? Saotome. Ranma Saotome," mumbled Hiashi Hyuga as he scratched his head. "Oh. That boy. What about him?"

"His father is putting him into Furinkan," said Fu.

"Well, it's better than if he ended up at Saint Hebereke," said Hiashi.

"But that's a girls-only school," pointed out Fu.

Hiashi actually looked up from his paperwork at that.

"Right, of course," said Fu. "He knows a couple of S-Rank jutsu, he's exceptionally skilled at taijutsu. He has... THAT within him."

"All old history," said Hiashi Hyuga, his attention back on his paperwork. "If he overcomes his upbringing, fine. Otherwise he's just another cocky shonen-type who'll probably get killed off in his first serious ninja mission."

"Well, that DOES seem to happen a lot," said Fu, though he didn't sound certain.

"A ninja's life is often short and violent," said Hiashi. "Unfortunately if you get past that stage it seems to mainly involve paperwork after awhile."

"Yes, well," said Fu, still uncertain.

"Don't worry about it, if nothing else he'll be staying at the Tendo home - and I'd expect that madhouse to eliminate him if I remember right how he ran his mouth last time he was here," said Hiashi.

"You're coming back with me," said Makoto Tendo in a tone that brooked no dispute. Her eyes though flicked from Ranma to the other person present.

"Yeah, I guessed something like that," said Ranma. "Uhm. Thanks for tea."

"Please, call me 'Hinata'," said the young girl in question, blushing and bowing politely.

"Course," said Ranma. "We're friends now, right? Thank you, Hinata."

The look Hinata directed towards Ranma didn't pass unnoticed by Makoto, who then spent some time trying to remember the times she'd met the gloomy goth girl sitting in the background most of the time. They hadn't interacted a lot, but they'd attended the same schools back through Middle School. Whereas now the girl was startlingly pretty with that smile going.

Makoto shook her head. Now there was this engagement between her family and Ranma's to deal with. She might get that slot herself. While she didn't mind having a boyfriend, in fact that would've been quite a plus, this was going straight to engagement.

Waitaminute, if she brought Ranma back - it might be chosen for her right then and there. How could she give herself a little breathing room?
