Demon Japan: Big And Little [Episode 215059]

by Kender

Brilliance had never been Mungo's strong suit, as he wasn't from that sort of stock. That wasn't too say that he was exactly a complete moron, but he relied more on his ability to use brute force than any real ability to outthink his enemies. Not that he saw anything wrong with that, since the Oni Kingdom was more of a rough and tumble place that worked well with the idea of doing things the rough way.

With that being the case, he wasn't aiming to beat something into a pulp this time. Rather, he was aiming to find the Oni-Hime, who was an important person for him and his people. Of course, there were plenty of ways to find her, but the fact of the matter was that it was easiest to go with the simplest work. All that had to be done was to send a representative out to locate where she was. Once that was done, the appropriate steps could be taken, like smashing down any bugs that might bother her.

There was one problem with that.

He had never met her before. However, it would be simple enough to know who she was, as he knew what to look for. And since he wasn't aiming to trash the other humans, there was little reason to get into a fight with them.

"Shouldn't we do something about this?" asked one police officer to his partner.

The other man gave his companion a bland look. "He's not hurting anything, and isn't causing trouble."

"He's a giant ogre walking right down the middle of the streets!"

"Yes, and is one that shoved a car out of the way when it illegally stopped in a crosswalk, blocking his path. Do you want to take on that sort of strength?"

"Ahhh... no," admitted the first officer after considering it for a moment.

"Didn't think so."

There wasn't much of a way to tell her from many of the other girls her age. Oh, she was a cute child, with bright eyes and a wide smile, but there were plenty of such youths running around. Certainly she would grow up to be as pretty as she already was, but right then, she was just another in the group. Her life was fairly regular, and she attended classes like many of her fellow schoolgirls.

This was only natural, and as she walked through the schoolyard, it didn't seem to be much of a problem. One expected to see her there, as she was a student, and the teachers tended to get mad when you skipped classes. Besides, there was little reason to not be there, and so she milled around with her classmates, knowing that this was where she was supposed to be.

Of course, giant men with overgrown hands were not supposed to be striding through the yard, no matter what. But as she heard the cries of surprise and turned to look, that was exactly what she saw. In a place where the most exciting thing would be the latest baseball or soccer game, there was a massive figure looking rather like it could crush a bat with one hand. A few students and teachers even looked rather like they were going to take him on, but then thought better of it.

And he came to a stop in front of her.

"Mungo find Oni-hime," he growled, looking down at her.

Tilting her head back to stare wide eyed at the giant, she tried to not whimper. "You... came for me?"

"Yes. Is Mungo's job. Mungo find Oni-hime. Mungo serve Oni-hime."

"Huh?"

"Mungo must do good job for Oni-hime. Can't let Oni-hime have problems," he told her gravely.

"Wait. You're not going to eat me?"

"Mungo no like eating humans. Mungo like takoyaki."

This, as it was, happened to not be what she would have expected.

"Mungo... had tentacle before. Mungo not have tentacle to share now. Mungo sorry."

"That's okay," she told him, a weak smile on her face.

Nodding with acceptance, Mungo relaxed now that he knew that he hadn't made her mad by not sharing his food with her, while:
