And then he felt the first stirrings of something that he knew was more than just an awareness of himself.
It wasn't easy to see at first. There was a faint rush in the air, like someone had opened a window. But then the air began to shift around, creating a breeze where one could not naturally be. Shinji's clothes began to flutter just a bit, though it took him a little while to notice. When he did, he opened his eyes and smiled broadly at his success, sure that he had managed to do something with magic. Realizing that he could hear the air flow, he laughed with joy... only to have that sudden happiness send a burst of wind blowing out to send the girls' skirts flipping up, and exposing their panties to him.
"What are you, a pervert?!" Asuka snapped as she used the hand not currently holding down her skirt to whap him in the head.
Wincing, Shinji rubbed at the new sore spot on his skull. "I didn't mean to do it!"
"Really, so it just 'happened'."
"Yeah!"
"Likely story," the redhead sourly muttered, giving him an evil look. "You just found your powers, and probably don't know how to use them right, so I'll be generous and give you the benefit of the doubt."
"Gee, thanks."
"I'm just glad that it was your powers that made you do that. It was kind of gross looking at you like that. You looked like you were constipated or something."
All that Shinji could do in response to that was stare, feeling rather like he should say something, but lost as to what exactly that would be.
"At least we learned something important, other than that he has magic," an apparently nonplussed Rei commented, ignoring the way a blushing Maya was hiding behind her. "We know what kind of magic he has."
"Oh?" went Asuka.
"It's an Air element power. The flow and form of the air around us is his to control."
"So, this idiot can whip up a breeze if he wants to."
"And would theoretically be able to send wind gusts at hurricane force."
"He's that strong?" Maya asked.
All three of the young women turned to look at the slender boy who had just shown off his power.
Asuka shook her head."No, he's too pathetic for something that destructive."
Knowing that he'd just been insulted, Shinji slumped, and wondered how long the redhead would stay angry with him, while:
