It was only in the childish fantasies that came from movies and comics that she would have thought that she would have gone on to become a superheroine, ready to kick monster backside and protect humanity's future. But she was there now, and there was no doubting that there were bad things waiting to do nasty things to some very innocent people, which she had to help defend against. And that was the way that she liked it.
"So, do you guys have a base or something?" Akane asked, glancing over at the girls around her.
Setsuna raised a brow and tried not to smile. "No, not so much."
"What?" Ami asked, her voice a low grumble. "Are you looking for some fantastic chamber or secret room?"
"Not really, but that would be cool," the youngest Tendo admitted.
Smirking as the Senshi of Mercury flushed, the Senshi of Time nodded. "It also would do wonders for the merchandising, but that'll have to be ignored."
"If you say so. But I was wondering if we'd be meeting here all the time, or if there would be someplace to hang out together in Tokyo."
Other than the odd twitching at Ami's eye, the other girls nodded in agreement.
"That would be good to have happen," Minako admitted, and then grinned mightily. "More afternoons of singing and gaming!"
"How's about we just go to someplace like Crown, and leave at that," Rei drawled.
Makoto gave a small shrug. "We could stop by my place once in a while. I do live by myself."
"It'd be so much fun! And we wouldn't have to worry about anyone dropping in, just like here," Usagi chirped.
"Do not forget about me!" called out a haughty voice.
"I spoke too soon."
Apparently unable to recognize Usagi's tension as a dislike of her presence, Nightshade shuffled into the camp area with the distinct gait of someone who was sore all over. Considering the fact that she was trailing a rope from one arm, had a broken arrow in her hair, and happened to be wearing clothing that was missing more fabric than it still had, that was perfectly understandable. Not that she was letting it stop her though, as she was heading right in the direction of what she so wanted.
Of course, this rather displeased Usagi, who immediately hugged Mamoru and stuck her tongue out at the would be superheroine.
"Such behavior is so unbecoming," Nightshade sighed.
Akane peered at the smudges on the other girl's face and let her brow furrow in confusion. "What happened to you?"
"I was caught in a most foul trap laid for those who were training in these hills. Taking it upon myself to handle such miscreants, I was misdirected, and was forced to submit to that indignity. But I clawed my way back to freedom, and returned to this place, and the one that I so desire."
"Really."
"Of course. Do you doubt what I say?"
"No, I'm still trying to figure out what exactly it is that you're trying to say," the martial artist girl muttered, and then snorted. "Truth is that the only one that I've heard speak like that is a jerk who doesn't know that I don't like him. In his eyes, I'm in love with him, and I was already wondering if he was a deranged idiot before that."
"Well, I am quite acquainted with this reality, thank you very much."
"So says the girl in the torn and homemade vigilante outfit," Setsuna murmured under her breath.
"I do sympathize with your plight though, as I have a brother who acts as your would be paramour does. He is such a burden, and I do so enjoy the fact that we go to separate schools. Near as I can tell his obsessions lie in that direction, and I wish for whomever they fall upon to keep them quite busy, and away from me."
For some reason, Setsuna felt the urge to smile helplessly and shake her head, drawing several surprised looks, while:
