"I'm boooored..." The boy whined. "Mother...Father..."
"Now stop that, boy, whining isn't going to make the car any faster, you know that."
The boy's father muttered, looking over the limousine driver's shoulders.
"Oh, ah, Mr Tennou, I'm really sorry, but..."
The driver mumbled, looking strangely small and meek, despite being quite larger then his employer was.
" - We're not going to get there on time, are we."
"I..." The driver sighed, then. "Probably not, sir."
" - Really, Ranma-chan." The boy's mothered muttered. "You just had to go hide in the attic right on the day we were supposed to go see our relatives, didn't you..."
"...'m sorry." Tennou Ranma mumbled. "But I'm still bored. Bored bored bored bored bored..."
"Alright, alright...maybe your Mother could read you a story or something..."
"Story, what." Ranma's mother mumbled. "You're better at that kind of thing, Husband, you know that."
Ranma's father sighed, turning towards the suitcase he had besides him. Maybe he should just try to make something up...
And that was when the other car's headlights lashed over them through the pouring rain.
Ranma would always remember that moment - their always polite driver swearing, grappling with the wheel like a maniac, while his mother screamed and turned in the car, trying to grab him. The car bouncing and tilting, his father - or rather, his father's suitcase - hitting the car's ceiling with a sickening crack, and then...
Silence, punctured by the sound of rain drumming on the car's rooftop. And a voice.
More then one, actually.
" - You - you bloody maniac, I told you not to drink and drive, you - you - "
...Where was that screeching coming from, anyway? - Outside the car?
" - But I wasn't drinking. That much."
"Like hell you weren't - come here, Mamoru - "
And now there was somebody trying to bang on their car door through the rain and the wind.
"...Ow, mom...it hurts..."
"Mamoru! Are you hurt?!"
Ranma and his mother looked at each other, absolutely boogled. There were two blurry shapes outside their car's windows, that much they could tell, but...
"Hello! Hellooo! Are you people all right in there? I'm really sorry but we'll appriciate it if you could let us in..."
The woman's voice was somewhat tinny through the rain. Ranma's mother swallowed.
"Um...we..."
However, all of that was forgotten, once the moan came from inside the car.
"...Ow...My neck..."
"Husband! Are you all right!?"
"Papa!"
"Yes, yes, I think so...the suitcase is sort of totaled, though..."
Ranma's father mumbled, rubbing his neck.
"Um...dear?"
"Yes, Husband?"
"Why are all those other people trying to get inside our car?"
It really had been a miracle, everybody agreed afterwards, that both cars hadn't gone off the nearby cliff.
But that had been much later, after getting down the mountain and getting to the hospital and discovering that they actually were some kind of relatives and everything.
For now, almost everybody crammed into the Tennou household limo was thinking the same thing that Ranma's mother had blurted out loud, into the rain and the cold.
Worst. Holiday. Ever.
