⑨ One-Half: Boundaries of Phantasmagoric Eminence [Episode 216748]

by Falgabird

The world was founded on boundaries.

It is a simple but profound philosophy many do not particularly acvitively look for.

But all things were founded in the Division of all that Exists. Earth and Sky, Heaven and Hell, Human and Inhuman.

Life and Death.

A human's perception is weak, limited, incomplete. They cannot see what cannot be. Unable to touch what we cannot find an existance for. To them, to us, we forever walk a world of what ifs and what could be, never distinguishing the differences, but forever knowing their distinctions; a paradox of boundaries, for as more Divided, more came to be, and such it repeats. And with endless repetition, this Division became as Natural as the air that is breathed today.

Boundaries, gaps, borders. All signs of Division, all signs of Existance.

Life and Death.

That said, there exists a demon that is. This demon is a very powerful demon, for she possessed the power of boundaries, of division. No barrier can stop her, no limits can hold her. Her power is a power that could control the very fabric of Existance, for her power is the reprensentation of all that is Divided.

A name? Yukari Yakumo.

Her ageless beauty belies her ageless wonder, for she has lived long, beyond that of any human record, even if her existance was never known. For those who could or would have known her, she could have existed since before the Division of all things, possibly the one who begat all Division, and began the perception of Existance.

But all things considered, she still has lived long. Time passed, time flowed, for Time itself is a boundary that exists within Yukari Yakumo's powers, but cannot be percieved normally.

But, with age comes time, and as Yukari Yakumo watched the world around her, as time passed, an emotion welled up within. It was small at first, but less than a thousand years after and thousand or so years before the time she stood in now, it was now bigger than all of comprehension.

For Yukari Yakumo, the demon of all Boundaries and Existance, grew bored.

For all of Life's division and Boundaries, she cannot watch all of it forever. So her boredom came into existance. And, to alleviate this boredom, she joined in Existance.

For one thousand years, she watched empires rise, then watched those empires fall. She watched heroes carve their names in history for their deeds, and watched as they died either forgotten or fondly remembered. She watched as society, as humanity grew. And, with only a century from the present she watched, at that time with fascination, as technology began breaking boundaries of limits, until it was the technology many take for granted today.

But for all of society's wonders, Yukari grew bored once more. She had contemplated this whilst she dipped upon the pools she had found on the nation that would be called 'China'.

A thousand years into the future, an unfortunate gate guard would be given this nickname, but I digress.

The pools were relaxing, and from what she had heard from the locals, held a bit of magic.

Magic, which it itself is a boundary, one that is beyond the set limitations of human perception, and can only be wielded by those who seek it.

Yukari, for her part, had just shrugged. 'So it was a spring with an extra zing to it,' She would surmise with herself, and just continued to enjoy her soak.

She may have the power to represent all borders, but it did not necessarily mean she knew some. So that is why hours later, she would leave, unnoticing of the local that frequently watched over the springs. This local knew the true magic of the Springs, and now, for anyone who dips upon the springs would take on the form of the one that 'drowned' there, for the spring was a 'template' spring. And upon witnessing a woman leave its area after taking a soak, the local had fixed upon the shores of the spring a sign, a sign that would say 'Spring of Drowned Girl'.

Yukari, unknowing of the Springs' purpose, would continue to watch Life around her as she settled into the mystical land that would be known as Gensokyo.

A thousand years later and in the present, one Ranma Saotome fell into the clear waters.

All the guide could do was tell the man-turned-panda, "Oh, very unfortunate. Mr. Customer fall in 'Spring of Drowned Girl', very tragic story of girl that fall in one thousand years ago."

Genma Saotome was too busy panicking when the now female Ranma emerged. But when he did, he lapsed from a rant into staring.

"What're ya looking at, pops?" A higher-pitched voice grounded out in annoyance, belonging to one female Ranma. Ranma noticed something different though, and noticed it immediately, "Hey, s'wrong with my voice?"

The Guide justshuffled his feet, before replying, "Mr. Customer fall in 'Spring of Drowned Girl'. Is girl right now."

...

"WHAT!!" Ranma made a frantic dash towards the reflective edge of the pool. What she saw left her stunned speechless.

For as she gazed into the pool, a beautiful young woman with golden blond hair stared gazed back, her face set in surprise, her golden eyes wide in shock. Ranma raised a tentative hand and touched her face, and saw the girl reflected in the pool touch her own face.

Swallowing the lump in her throat, Ranma shakily stood up, and touched her chest, where she felt two soft and well developed lumps where flat abs should be.

With a feeling of dread, she drew taut the waistband of both her black martial-artist pants and the boxers within, and gazed down.

For one still minute, nothing moved, except for the perceptible shaking of the boy-turned-girl's shoulders.

Then, there came a sound.

It was a sound that had the Guide backing away in fear, and for Genma to feel a tinge of being afraid.

Ranma was growling.

"...Pops..." She turned around and faced her panda-father. Genma saw two fires burning behind those eyes, and flinched. She then raised her head and shouted, "YOU IDIOT!"

What could have been her right fist raised in anger, the most odd thing happened.

For what could only be a tear in the fabric of reality seemed to be where Ranma touched empty air.

Genma watched his son-turned-daughter with a look of dread and confusion.

Then a boulder came speeding out of the tear and collided hard into Genma.

And Genma knew no more, as he was knocked unconcious after being launched by the force of the boulder and into a tree.
