The last frozen bits of what was until a few seconds ago Saffron the phoenix god were scattered by the wind. The Edge Guard, Ranma Saotome and the Diggers family with friends had prevailed over the mad godling and saved the day.
Ranma had a silly smile on his face. He had met his favorite comics characters in the flesh and got to help them put down a major menace. It was a fanboy's self-insertion dream come true ! He didn't know how or why he ended up here but he was grateful for it.
*purrrr...*
Suddenly, Ranma felt a cold chill along his spine and sweated. Sheila was still holding on his back and it looked like she was snuggling to him like he was an overgrown teddy bear, except her hands, legs and tail roamed on places a lady shouldn't know about. He pinched himself, there was no way this was happening. Sheila was not fondling him therefore finding him attractive, she kapowied men who tried to get fresh with her, right ?
He turned to the other people around him and gulped. The girls were glaring at them while emitting a collective battle aura reminding him of Akane on her worst mood. Gar and Tirga were openly growling and ready to beat him up. Seance, Genn, Thropan and Onoli slowly moved away from the danger zone.
"Er... Sheila-san ? The fight's over... You can let go of me now... Sheila-san ?" The jagwere ignored him and kept on snuggling to his body, purring like a contented cat.
He shook her a little. Her eyes opened and she blinked in confusion "What ? What !?" She blushed when her position came back to her *sigh...* She reluctantly got down from Ranma's back. Following an impulse, she gave him a kiss on the cheek on the way down.
Ranma blushed like a tomato and his mouth made a fish impression "She... Shei... Sheila-san !?!"
Sheila blushed too and was squirming a little under his gaze "I... I wanted to thank you for saving me... us, hehehe..." Ranma's reaction proved to her that he saw her as a true woman despite her birth defect. Realizing this, she was ready to glomp him again but the others had to spoil the moment.
"Ssshheeeiiillllaaa..." The jagwere sweatdropped and turned to see that Gina, Brianna, Luan and Carla and even Britanny surrounding her and looking pissed ! She could understand that Brianna would be jealous but the others had boyfriends. Heck, Britanny was married !
Cue the overprotective older brother "RRRAAAAAAANNNNNNMMMMMMAAAAAAA !!! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING WITH MY SISTER !?!" Gar was fuming in anger and cracked his knuckles. That werecheetah was a worse womanizer than Tirga ! Why else would he have a Gold Digger Swimsuit Special ? For all he knew, his poor sweet sister could be exposed in it !
Ranma slapped himself on the head "Why me ?"
Gar, joined by Tirga who objected at his treatment of his 'girlfriend', came up to him "Any last words ?"
Ranma nodded "Yes, actually..." He gestured at the city of Seer's Hamlet, still burning in several places "Shouldn't we help put down that fire and ensuring the safety of the people ?"
Everyone sweatdropped. Caught in this little drama, they had completely forgotten about the city.

Thanks to Ranma and the Diggers' help, the Edge Guard could put down the last fires and bring the wounded to Nali's clinic which had miraculously escaped destruction. Seance sent a message to the Conclave to warn Theodore and Julia Diggers of what happened. They had retreated to the Edge guard's quarters to have a talk with Ranma.
"Now, Ranma. I wish to thank you for your help in the name of the whole Edge Guard" Onoli liked Ranma. From what he'd seen, he was an honorable warrior, worthy of respect. Perhaps giving him an offer to join them would be a good idea.
Ranma shrugged "I did only what was right, Onoli-san. It was a team effort, I couldn't have done this without you, all of you" He emphasized the statement by looking around at all the people present in the room.
Gina couldn't keep her curiosity in check anymore "Now, Ranma. We have many questions for you... How did you survive the werecheetah massacre ? Where did you get your sword and shield ? Why didn't you seek out Britanny earlier if you are her fan ? What kind of woman do you find attractive ? Are you single ?"
"GINA !" Brianna and Britanny were scandalized. Since when did their eldest sister behave like that ? That didn't keep them from eagerly awaiting his answers, especially on the last two questions.
Sheila glared at the Diggers sisters. She found the perfect man for her and they had to try to steal him from her. Britanny hadn't even the excuse of perpetuating the werecheetah race since the Raphiel incident. It wasn't fair. How could she compete against them ?
Ranma didn't know how to answer. Was he supposed to say "You're imaginary characters and I like your comic book" ? Yeah, right... Lying was out of the question. He respected them too much for that.
Fortunately, he wouldn't have to explain himself. A strange fog filled the room and was gone just as quickly. Everyone gasped. Ranma had disappeared !

"Hey ! Where did he go ?" asked Kishijoten.
Freya scratched her chin and turned to Athena "I've seen that trick before during the Trojan War. Where did you send him ?"
The greek goddess of War and Wisdom switched the view in the scrying pool in Bast's appartment "Ranma is needed in his home plane. I sent him on his way to face the crisis brewing there"
Bast and Kishijoten sniffled "What about our werecheetah babies ?"
Sekhmet patted her sister/wife on the shoulder "Don't worry... This Ranmaverse and the Gold Digger world are now connected. I'm sure they'll go after him in due time. If not, there are enough potential mothers in Tokyo alone"
Freya sighed. Each time it was getting good, something would happen "What's the problem this time ?"
"Look and see for yourself" The goddesses looked where Athena's finger pointed to and saw...
