But most of the students were well behaved, and only caused small little problems. They did their cleaning duties, and didn't act out too much... save for certain incidents. He wouldn't dismiss those attacks in the morning, and he certainly didn't like it when they charged along in hordes. Still, having only to do things like rid stairwells of the smell of smoke or fixing leaky pipes wasn't all that bad of a job.
That made it nice to be able to work at a school like this. Walking able to walk along like this was nice, and he rather enjoyed the fresh air and the relative peace. Classes were going on, the school seemed to be peaceful... and he found birds hopping all over a prone boy.
It didn't take all that long for him to recognize who it was there, but it did beg some time to actually believe that this kid was there. The surprise did pass quickly though, as it wasn't a big shock to find him like this. Considering what went on with this fool's usual mode of operating, he tended to wind up like this. About the only part of it that was out of place was that he hadn't been pulled up since then. If he was still there, that meant that no one was willing to clean up this mess.
"Leaving it up to me again. Kids should realize that it isn't what I'm supposed to be doing," the janitor muttered to himself, running a hand over the top of his head. "Now I've got to go get the nurse."
For his part, Kuno didn't notice that the janitor was shuffling off, but then again, had he been conscious, he might have been more put out over the squirrel trying to find a place to hide his nuts.
Leaning against the wall next to the front of the school gate, Akane crossed her arms over her chest. Anyone could see from the expression on her face that her mood was sour, and that made her feelings go even more south. This was supposed to be her happy time, what with the return of her husband, but she'd been annoyed by just about everything that could come her way.
All that made her peer darkly at her spouse as he looked uncertain at the moment. "What's with you?"
"Umm... well.... I'm kind of trying to figure out what we're doing," Ranma admitted.
"I'd think that it'd be obvious. We're waiting at the front of the school."
"Yeah, but it doesn't seem like you'd want to be here."
"Oh, I'd wonder why that'd be," she groused, sounding deceptively relaxed. "I've been asked questions all day, Kuno put his foot in it, and I've got extra homework to do. Yeah, I'm in a big rush to go home."
"Right. I think that I got the point."
"Wonderful. At least one person understands me."
Ranma glanced at his wife. "You don't think that this is all my fault, do you?"
"What? Of course not! You're about the only welcome part of this," she protested, and went to lean in towards him. "Well, Yuka and Sayuri were nice, but you're the one that I really want to be with."
"Heh. I'm glad to hear that."
"At least I have you. I'd hate to think about what it would be like if we couldn't be like this."
"Why wouldn't we be together?" the pigtailed boy asked, blinking in surprise.
"Don't know myself. Though, I do know that it isn't perfect...."
"Sorry to keep you waiting," commented out a voice, and they could easily see Nabiki hurrying towards them. "Class duties, you know."
Akane quickly scowled at her sister. "How nice for you."
"Grumpy, are we?"
The younger girl merely growled under her breath.
Scratching the tip of his nose, Ranma gave his sister-in-law a strained smile. "She's kind of annoyed right now...."
"Easy to see that. The thing is to know about what caused it."
"Maybe it has to do with the person with the big blabbermouth," Akane bit out.
For a moment, Nabiki didn't understand what her sister meant, but the words sank in and the elder girl actually managed to look a little sheepish. "That was unintentional, but I am sorry that it happened."
"Great, but that doesn't help right now, does it?"
"True enough."
"Why don't we all get out of here?" Ranma suggested. "Near as I can tell, Akane's kind of put out right now."
"Sounds good enough."
"Doesn't it?"
"Then what are you waiting for?" Nabiki drawled.
"Only to do this," Ranma answered, and scooped his wife up into his arms.
Gasping at the sudden shift of perspective, Akane looked around in surprise. "What do you think you're doing?!"
"Just making it easier on you."
"But this is...."
"Actually nicer than I thought," he told his spouse.
"Emb.... Really?"
"Yup. It feels like you belong like this. 'Sides, I don't want you to have to do more than relax."
"Than... thank you," his wife whispered.
"You're welcome. What about you, Nabiki?"
"She does look good there," Nabiki idly commented. "Or are you wanting to carry little old me?"
"What? You're not...."
"You're so much fun to tease. Having you as a little brother will be fun."
"How nice for you. Are you coming?"
"That would be obvious, wouldn't it? I live there too," the brown haired girl reminded him.
"Then come on."
"Don't go so fast. I'm not a martial artist like you."
"I'm not running or anything...." he scoffed.
She might have given off a little giggle, but that would have disrupted Akane's peace at the moment. This was a terribly embarrassing way to travel, but she had to admit that she rather liked it. Being held so close to her husband was wonderful, and the feeling of his hands on her body set off feelings that she didn't quite understand, but did enjoy. There wasn't enough to complain about, and so she merely snuggled in towards his chest with a small smile on her lips, while:
