Ami had asked, knowing that she was much smarter than her big brother. Not that he was particularly dumb, it was just that everyone knew girls were smarter.
"So it's like that," said Ranma, explaining this new martial arts manuever to his thoroughly confused audience. "There's all this stuff here and there, and it's all connected, and you just tell it that this is that... and there you go."
Ami waited a few moments to see if something further was coming.
"You don't get it, do you?" asked Ranma.
"What kind of explanation was that?" asked Ami.
"It's like... this is HERE and NOW, right?" asked Ranma, checking around for the TV remote.
Ami handed him the remote. "Yeah, that much I understand."
Ranma clicked around, looking for something like news. "Uhm. Hangon."
Ami took the remote back, and clicked around, finally finding something interesting. "Oh. They've got a space shuttle about to launch."
"Yeah, and that's THERE and NOW, right?" asked Ranma. "You ever want to see that?"
"Well, yeah," allowed Ami.
Jaunt!
Ami's eyes were wide as she looked around, as she'd suddenly felt as if she'd been pulled through a straw and then spat out again. "We're..."
"What?!" said someone in a spacesuit, managing to look to the side enough. "Scrub the launch! We've got kids aboard!"
"How did we get stowaways?" asked someone else. "What? We DO have stowaways?"
"This isn't 'Ideon'," said another voice. "Scrubbing launch."
"Oh no," said Ami, turning to her stepbrother. Halfbrother. Whatever. "They aren't going to launch because we're here. We have to leave."
"(Huh,)" said Ranma, not familiar enough with English to follow most of that. "(So we aren't going to the moon?)"
"(We weren't going to the moon anyway,)" said Ami.
Ranma got a stubborn expression. "(I wonder...)"
JAUNT!
Ranma yawned. "(It's about naptime, right?)"
Ami's eyes were especially large as she started floating off the floor. "(Ranma, what did you DO?)"
"Either of you two know English?" asked one of the astronauts. "Or why the moon is currently off to our right?"
Ami tucked in, bounced lightly off the roof, and floated towards a viewscreen. "I'm sorry. My brother's Talent is teleportation."
"He just popped the space shuttle, booster rockets and external fuel tank included, into lunar orbit," said one of the astronauts.
"I'm terribly sorry," said Ami, trying to bow and apologize except those motions started her tumbling along.
"(Awfully silly to have a moon rocket and not go to the moon,)" complained Ranma, floating through the air between the seats. "(So I moved it. You understand now? It's like that.)"
"Mission Control, this is Endeavor," said one of the astronauts. "Are you reading our telemetry? Apparently one of our stowaways has a teleport talent."
"Roger, Endeavor," said mission control a few minutes later. "We have confirmed presence of Ranma Saotome, Ace Teleporter. Orbit will degrade to lunar impact in roughly three days. On the other hand, you have enough fuel to change orbit as soon as we run the new calculations."
"Mission Control," said the earlier astronaut. "We could probably go elsewhere fairly easy. Suggest we jettison external fuel tank and solid rocket boosters."
"(Ranma! You shouldn't go teleporting their space shuttle!)" said Ami, drawing upon years of watching little sisters berating their older brothers on TV to know what her role should play like.
"(I should put it back?)" asked Ranma with a frown.
"(Yes,)" said Ami, before addressing the astronauts. "I am very sorry for my impetuous half-brother. He will put everything back as it was."
"NO!" shouted four astronauts immediately, and an entire room of mission control specialists when the time lag caught up.
"No?" asked Ami.
"No?" asked Ranma, who might not be fluent in English understood THAT much.
"At least not yet," said one of the astronauts.
Doctor Mizuno suppressed a yawn, which was to be expected from a doctor who worked the Pediatric Emergency Room as much as she did. Long shifts were the rule, after all.
It certainly wasn't what these people were talking about that was causing yawns, which was:
