N-Class Productions: The silent horses [Episode 217241]

by HistorianoftheKais

Nabiki knew that Ranma had just gotten a job. Everyone in Nerima knew that the boy had landed a job from Nodoka. However, no one knew what Ranma's job was. This information was an extremely hot commodity and it would be a sin against business to deny the consumer what they wanted to know. Thus, Nabiki walked over to the kitchen table where Ranma was shockingly trying to do his homework and said, "So Saotome. Word on the street has it that you just got hired."

Ranma curtly nodded his head and said, "Yah I've got a job. Mom was insisting that it was unmanly for me to be unemployed at my age."

The ice queen of Furinkan High did not like how Ranma was deflecting her questions instead of spilling her guts. She then said in a slightly more forceful manner, "Well what is the job Saotome and how much are you making? We need to work out your payment for your bill."

A tick started to develop on Ranma's forehead as Nabiki continued to make demands. The premier martial artist of the district was still upset at Nabiki for the shenanigans she had pull over the year. This annoyance did not mix well with Ranma's worry about the fiancees finding out about the job his mother had given him.

Just as Ranma was about ready to leave for the roof, he remembered something Nodoka had told him. Almost immediately, Ranma shot Nabiki a withering glare and said, "I would suggest you stop this Nabiki. My new boss is very familiar with the situation here and would know just who to sue should any of the typical craziness show up at work." That caused Nabiki to shut up immediately. She might be able to run rings around the morons that frequented the dojo, but the mercenary knew that she could be eaten alive if the courts went after her.

Akane watched the whole exchange and her fists unconsciously tightened. A part of the youngest Tendo wanted to force Ranma to explain himself for threatening Nabiki. However, she was unsure about how to approach Ranma now that he wasn't sticking solely to martial arts.

Ranma's 'true' fiancee then decided to ask Genma. After all, he had to know who his wife could convince to let that baka get a job. She quickly marched over to where Genma and her father were playing, cough cheating cough, shogi and said, "Do you know who Auntie Nodoka got to higher Ranma?"

Genma immediately started to sweat. There was no way he could just tell Akane that Ranma was going to go to work and N-Class Productions. If she ever found out about that it was bye bye pact to unite the school. Oh why couldn't the boy just marry Akane and take over the dojo?

At first, Genma tried to get out this situation by ignoring Akane. However, the girl was drilling holes into his head with her glare. Genma finally and grudgingly said, "Of course I know where the boy's going to be working! As his father, I have to know these things. However, I've had a few ah, disagreements over the boy working and No-chan isn't happy with me. She's been trying to get Ranma to work at his new job for years now and just can't understand that the boy has more important things to do."

Akane nodded her head and walked away. If Genma was that against wherever Ranma was going to work, then it had to be a respectable place.
