Pluto was not pleased. Neither was the King.
Dark, dark, it was so dark. It had been so long since he'd had to wait for any injuries to heal, instead of either just being able to heal them up himself or just having them healed almost instantly.
Why? Why had this happened, anyway? The long-awaited Doom Tree Clan had never even shown up in the end, and then -
No, not now, healing came first. He couldn't really afford to think about this - 'Dark Moon Family' - right now. Because if he thought about it too much, he'd remember things like some - people - who'd thought hijacking an entire city or so was just right and dandy apperently, and then he'd remember what happened when they apparently thought that publicly executing some 'collaborators with the alien invaders' were a good way to start things out -
So it really wasn't good to remember too much, or try to think too much. Not now, anyway.
If only his Serenity would awaken...
But she still slept on in her casing of crystal, even after her Four Guardians had decided to stand guard around her, adding their energies to hers.
And their daughter, their Small Lady was back in the past, back in the 20th century. Poor child, she must be so bored - the precursor of the Infonet barely existed back then, if his memories were correct. Though from what he could remember - the strange little girl who'd dropped down, quite literally, from the skies into their lives back in those days had seemed to enjoy her life in the 20th century quite a lot, all things considers.
As long as scary people and things weren't chasing her around, that is.
He wished he could see for himself how she was doing.
With Serenity. Serenity, Serenity, Serenity, I miss you, wake up...
If only he could reach out and see his daughter for himself, like his younger self could right now...
He pictured his younger self in his mind. He should be still thinking of himself as Prince Endymion, then...
Prince Endymion, Prince of Earth, who had loved Princess Serenity of the Moon, and had died and been reborn...
And then a little pink-haired girl had tumbled down from the skies, and somebody had started to walk his dreams -
He walks down the aisle in the full regalia of an Earth Prince, armor and all, Princess Serenity besides him, dressed in her traditional Moon Kingdom Royal wedding clothes -
"Endymion, My Prince... At long last, we are wed..."
And then death and destruction rained from the skies -
"...What?"
Endymion stopped dead. And stared. He hadn't said that.
In front of him was - Prince Endymion, as he remembered himself from a long time ago. Semi-transparent. Watching him with wide, wide eyes.
No. Watching behind him.
And King Endymion of the Neo Silver Millenium looked behind him -
Right into Chiba Mamoru's eyes.
"Your Majesty - Endymion-sama! What did you just do!?"
Holo-Pluto fretted, hovering over Endymion's medical capsule.
"I...I don't...I think I must have contacted my past self by mistake or something, but..."
Pluto blinked. By mistake? How did one even do that?
"...And...?..."
"But - why were they two of them? I don't remember anything like that happening back then! I mean - I did have strange dreams that turned out to be sent by my future self, but - not like that. Those dreams were supposed to warn me about the Doom Tree Clan's machinations, not - "
No, wait. But the Doom Tree Clan...
Endymion stopped trying to talk. The Doom Tree Clan had never even appeared, and this 'Dark Moon Family' was a different matter entirely, so...
Alright - just what had he ended up doing now, and what could he do to fix it?
And why oh why oh why were they two of them, anyhow? Wasn't Chiba Mamoru supposed to be a part of him?
Chiba Mamoru walks down the aisle in a smart-looking western-style white wedding suit, Tsukino Usagi - no, Chiba Usagi now - besides him, dressed in a very pretty western- style wedding dress, white flowers in her hair-
"Mamo-chan... We've finally been able to get married, right?"
They kiss, but then Usagi smiles sadly at him, turning into Princess Serenity, the white flowers fading away -
And destruction covers the land, while Mamoru calls for his Usako.
Pluto blinked at the scene playing via her Orb.
"Ahh, Endymion-sama... I'm not quite sure what this is supposed to accomplish...?..."
Endymion sighed, then. "It's just a bit of reverse psychology, Pluto. If this doesn't work, I'll try something else, but I think it will."
Pluto hmph'd, poking at the images.
"Chiba Mamoru, you must not get close to Tsukino Usagi."
Chiba Mamoru gets to his feet and glares over the devastated landscape in the direction the voice comes from.
"You, again? Who are you, anyway?"
"When the two of you are bound together, the world will crumble. And Tsukino Usagi, that is, Princess Serenity, will be struck by misfortune."
Mamoru clenches his fists. "As if I could belive something like that! Making me have this dream over and over again... Are you trying to trick me!?"
"This is the truth from which you cannot escape."
"Ha, ha - see, it's working. He's trying to talk back to me already!"
"Endymion-sama..." Pluto mumbled, faceplaming. Well OK, if it worked, it worked, but...
Endymion softly sighed, then. Small Lady seemed to be still safe for now, and - since the Doom Tree Clan wasn't there to mess with the Prince and Princess's relationship only to end up making it ever stronger, and none of the 'Dark Moon Family' members in the 20th century seemed to be interested in taking up that role - well, it seemed weirdly fitting that he himself should put his two cents in, so to speak.
Though he'd be relived when Usagi and Mamoru (strange, how he'd gotten into the habit of thinking of them like that, instead of the Prince and the Princess) finally managed to get back firmly together, of course.
And with any kind of luck on his side, Mamoru would disregard anything that he'd seen in that first dream. Mamoru actually thinking and trying to pry about - that -
Well, that wouldn't be good. Really. Truly.
Or so Endymion of Crystal Tokyo believed.
