Coupled Union - Childhood Sweethearts: Connectors To Life [Episode 217563]

Leaning back on her seat, Nabiki smiled as she watched the goings on around her. To her, this was the sort of thing that one only got in television shows, but this was something that she was actually getting to experience. If anything, it was just a blessing that her big sister had a reason to get out of the house that wasn't related to housework or Doctor Tofu. There was Kasumi, standing with Ukyo as they traded recipes as they stood together at the griddle. Akane was huddled with Ranma as the two of them had an intense conversation about some sort of martial arts move or another.

And there she was herself, sitting in a relaxed atmosphere where there were no secrets, but was full of affection and acceptance.

The idea that she was there in such a situation amused her a whole lot. She knew that everyone thought of her as stylish and aloof, but she was treated here like she was one of the group. Sure, two of them were her sisters, but she knew that her classmates would be a bit surprised to see her involved with this. Of course, she wasn't about to let them see this, but she knew that a lot of them would have loved to be there.

Right then, Akane wouldn't have noticed them though, as she was passionately jabbing her finger to emphasize her point to Ranma. This was the girl who had the whole school aware of events around her, but many of them wouldn't get as close to her as Ranma had. What made it interesting was the fact that he didn't know how good that he would have it, at least in their eyes. Just the mental image of the other students watching her sister get in close to her friend made it impossible for her to keep from snickering.

Hearing the sound, Akane was jolted from her conversation, and turned to look at her sibling. "Something funny, Nabiki?"

"Nothing really, It's just that you two seem to be really close," Nabiki drawled.

"So? Why shouldn't we?"

"There's no reason that you shouldn't. He's your friend. It's just that you seem to be really keen on him. One might think that you're sweet on him."

For a long moment, the youngest Tendo didn't seem to understand what the words meant... but then a sudden realization showed on her features. Turning to look at her pigtailed friend, she stared at him with her face turning red from her collar to her hairline. Then she sort of skidded off of her stool, and nearly fell onto the floor.

"Interesting. You really do seem to be liking him."

"Nabiki!"

"What? It's a little joke. Besides, we all know that you're just friends. It's just that the boys would love to have your attention like that."

"Well, that's all good for them."

"True enough. It's not like you are trying to steal Ukyo's guy from her," the middle Tendo commented.

"Exactly!"

Glancing at her friends from her position behind her counter, Ukyo snorted. "I'd never believe that she'd do that anyway."

"See?"

"Yes, well, it's not like I'd think that," Nabiki told them. "It's just that the boys would want to have her get to be with you. And it's not like you're the only one."

"What do you mean?"

"You and I both know that a lot of boys would love to be with Ukyo."

"Really," Ranma murmured as he pressed his lips together.

"Pretty much. I mean, she is really popular with the guys."

He might have wanted to say something, but Ranma stayed quiet as his wife looked a little embarrassed over the commentary going on about her.

That was what amused Nabiki as she enjoyed the discomfort that she was causing. As much as she liked the people around her, being able to tease them was the sort of fun that she liked. On top of that, it was nice to liven things ups once in a while. If this was all that they had to worry about, then thing was going to really fun.

Her home was quiet and comfortable, but sometimes Nodoka thought that it needed to have more life in it. When she was a girl, she'd always imagined that her future would have her a home where her children would be bouncing about, and her husband would be waiting for her meals. Yet, there she was with her husband on the road with their son.

It wasn't like she didn't understand it, as she was a martial artist's wife. Duty did call for sacrifices, and Genma had made it so that they had to go on their training quest. So she had to bear it, and she did so with as much dignity as she could manage.

That didn't mean that she hadn't imagine what it would be like if her son and her husband had stayed home.

At the moment though, she put away her linens, certain that the time when they would be reunited would come eventually, while:
